Having not touched Skyrim for quite a few months now after beating the game and struggling to produce a new character that I felt equally attached to, I recently came across http://theskyrimblog.ning.com/group/character-building/forum/topics/character-build-the-nemesis and the basic idea of it very much appeals to me. Whilst I almost always play as one of the four human races and have attempted to play as an Altmer/High Elf before, I find their supremacist attitude and oppression towards other races unpalatable. With this build, the idea of a Thalmor soldier banished by his brethren who turns to vampirism to exact his revenge. Since I also never finished playing through Dawnguard as a vampire and the recently released Dragonborn apparently offers lots of content for mages, this build seems the perfect choice.
Questions:
I have a couple of questions still regarding how this build will work exactly. Any help would be appreciated, so thanks in advance to those of you who offer advice.
- Which perk trees are generally most associated with vampires? I can't seem to remember, having not played the game in such a long time. From a game-play perspective, I want to use a combination of melee and magic skills. Don't recommend any stealth-based skills, because sneaking in Skyrim is simply awful in my opinion.
- The role-playing idea of this build is that you were originally in a high-standing position within the Thalmor army. Firstly, what are the various positions within the Thalmor army, or do they just use the standard Lieutenant, Commander, and so on? Can someone give me the name of a high-standing position? You were ordered to travel to Skyrim and gather information on the Stormcloak Rebellion, who could prove a problem if they were to seize control of Skyrim as they do not bow down to the Thalmor like the Empire does. However, as you cross the border, you are seized during an Imperial ambush on the Stormcloaks. It turns out that your brethren had betrayed you and had set you up. This makes sense, as there are Thalmor soldiers at the start of the game. However, what war crime could have been committed to want the Thalmor to kill this guy? In-line with the combat style of this guy, I think it should be for brutality or something. I need suggestions! Anyway, after breaking out of custody thanks to an attacking dragon, you seek out the vampires and begin your path to revenge. How does this role-play sound?
- As you progress through the stages of vampirism, you gain in power - yet eventually suffer from no longer being able to regenerate magicka, stamina or health. However, with the right enchantments or items of clothing that offer 100% (or more) faster magicka/stamina/health regeneration, you can actually negate this. It allows you to become extremely powerful. So, what items offer this and how difficult are they to obtain?
- From a role-playing perspective, does becoming a vampire make you dead? Like, are vampires in Skyrim the undead a la Count Dracula or simply afflicted with a disease like in newer vampire stories?
- Finally, in terms of aesthetics for the build, which clothing and weapon items best suit the vampire style? I want him to look properly menacing and just a total bad-ass vampire!
