The Nerevarine's return: A Speculation thread

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 3:33 am

If the Nerevarine were ever to return then at least it will be cool because he/she will look completely different.

I bet he would have become a dragon by then

My Nerevarine is running around Skyrim slaying dragons, and attempting to master his latest hurdle: Thu'um.

Then again, mine faked a trip to Akivir to escape into Cyrodiil to enjoy some peace and quiet after all the fame. Shame he had to stumble on that Amulet of Kings (alternate start mod) and get dragged into that Oblivion Crisis business. Hiding in the Isles didn't help either. So here he is, in Skyrim, getting dragged into another huge adventure.

Mh, could be fun if they did the same thing they did to the Champion of Cyrodill (the whole morphing into Sheogorath between Oblivion and Skyrim). They could possibly use the face of the Indoril / Ordinator helmet as the model. Interesting...

The Nerevarine's true identity was St. Jiub. [...]

This, and that Martin Septim and the Hero of Kvatch are the same guy. The whole time. Entered the daedra gate with nothing but gray robes and a shillelagh. The Thane of Whiterun? He was just a young man from Riverwood (Ralof-Hadvar), and now he's Dovahkiin. The Divine Crusader and Sheogorath? Pelinal is the definition of crazy, with his picture in the dictionary.

The power of mythos is astounding

Nerevar, protector of life and love and peace and Almalexia's golden good(nes)s
Terrifying to me how his face ended up the mask of every Ordinator.

Much awesomeness and love would happen!

:twirl:

Vivec is the best.

For some reason I had totally misread the title of the article and scanned over the article itself, as one does, and came to the conclusion we wanted Vivec to come back.
Which is odd as the original poster is quite clear in it being the Nerevarine.

I dont know, my Nerevarine was a diplomat. He pacified the outcast Ashlanders, united the tribes and houses and ended the feuds between Telvanni- mages guild and Fighters - Thieves guild.
He also killed every Cammona Tong on the island.

I would suppose that canon-wise he only did the main quest, for reasons of not being ridiculous.

Meanwhile I still find Nerevar returning a lot less interesting than Vehk coming Back.
As I said before, I have regressed my mythical understanding to the most prime imaginable and worship Muatra.

The whole point of sending the Nerevarine out to Akavir was to put him out of the way of future PCs and games. He isn't coming back, and if he did, I doubt modern Morrowind would care all that much.

Now, Vivec coming back...

Ooh hoo! I like you!

Yeah, no kidding. It's like having yourself stand in front of you, insulting you and threatening you with violence. Not to mention the mental tension caused when they attack you for wearing your own face. The Gods work in ironic ways.

Foolish mortals, thinking I'm gone. Auri-El stands before and against you, and thus I become absent to you. Think again. I left you some keys.

/

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

The Nerevarine will never return. That's it. As for Nerevar himself, he got screwed all over again. "We're watching you, scum." ...why not just "Screw you" ? And why does JIub take credit for destroying the Cliff Racers and their kin? I'm pretty sure I killed more than him, dozens at once. I still don't understand how those birds drove out the dragons from Morrowind. I guess the secret lies in their voice. Alduin would have begged for forgiveness at the sight of a stuffed Cliff Racer.

silly post is silly.

Bethesda aren't going to take control of a players character away from them ike that.
Well, they kind of took control of a player's character with the Champion of Cyrodiil, who, it's strongly hinted, briefly appears in Skyrim -- as Sheogorath.

Not ganna happen. However ya handle ya PC is different from mines. Remain ambiguous and no other player's foot would be step at.
They've already failed in that regard. My Nerevarine would never, ever have left Morrowind, so my feet have already been stepped on. That, and I killed Vivec, yet he is rumored to have been taken by.. well, I've forgotten who, but he is supposed to be dead.

Good job remaining ambiguous, Bethesda.

RUMORED, rumors =/= fact.

They made it only a rumor so you can belive it or not depending on if you killed Vivec yourself or not.

Also The Nerevarine's trip to Akavir is also a RUMOR, but did he actually go? That is what people think, but ES people are increadibly stupid and untrustworthy.

Even if you kill Vehk he still returns, and it's been postulated that not even Dagoth Ur is dead.

It's one of the dialogue options Vivec gives you after the MQ is finished. Afterall, Vivec's pleasantly surprised that he's still alive, give or take some power.

" [Being a god] is a bit like being at once awake and asleep. Awake, I am here with you, thinking and talking. Asleep, I am very, very busy. Perhaps for other gods, the completely immortal ones, it is only like that being asleep. Out of time. Me, I exist at once inside of time and outside of it."
"It's nice never being dead, too. When I die in the world of time, then I'm completely asleep. I'm very much aware that all I have to do is choose to wake. And I'm alive again. Many times I have very deliberately tried to wait patiently, a very long, long time before choosing to wake up. And no matter how long it feels like I wait, it always appears, when I wake up, that no time has passed at all. That is the god place. The place out of time, where everything is always happening, all at once."

Dagoth Ur is quite dead and Vivec is mortal as well. Keep in mind though that Vivec retained divine powers up until his disappearance but he lost his immortality.

The Nerevarine would return with a fleet of tsaesci and other akaviri who were fleeing conflict with the Ka Po'Tun and Tosh Raka.
He'd settle on the newly volcanic tropical isles of vvardenfall, uniting the various colonists and tribals in the area under his rule.

Vivec would crop up out of nowhere, claim he was still a god and take over Solstheim's government in a remnant tribunal temple uprising.
This Republic of Vivec would be in direct opposition of Nerevar's leadership- battles would be lost and some won, no one gaining ground.

Then.. out of nowhere an Oblivion Gate would appear! with it, Saint Jiub riding an army of cliffracers that ate both of the factions inhabitants.

Eating so much divine essence and spending a little too much time in Oblivion made the cliffracers evolve over time into sentient argonian like people.
So with this, Saint Jiub dies a peaceful death and ascends as a god among the Aedra. With the next year bringing promise for the clifdroths of vvardenfall.
For they squawked an agreement with the argonian rulership - they'd eat the remaining dunmer if Argonia gave them half of southern morrowind.

This they did and then got bored with Morrowind, so they all flew west in a great migration and decided to eat all of the thalmor off.
So did Tamriel come to peace at last by it's hated enemy - the cliffracers. But what happened to Vivec and Nerevarine you ask?
Well now.. the word is that they somehow ended up in Azura's realm of Oblivion, forever confining themselves to playing chess in a maze of thorns.

(What? you wanted speculation! well, that's my speculation for yer! )

The Nerevarine existed in a state of Aurbic superposition. On the defeat of Dagoth Ur, he/she becomes aware of this and travels to Akavir because it is extremely confusing being a million people at once and maybe they have a clue as to what to do. He/she arrives and promptly confuses the hell out of everyone there, as well. The sheer volume of incoherency tears a hole in Mundus, collapsing the Nerevarine and a few thousand unfortunate bystanders into a single being and shoving him/her (now him) into the distant past. He travelled back to Tamriel and wanders, hoping someone will see through his words and unwind him.

Thus was born M'iaq.

All my characters since Morrowind have been a similarly looking male Dunmer, with the same name. When I play an Elder Scrolls game, I envisage that my character is the same one from previous games, therefore my Skyrim character is a 250 year old Dunmer.

This is what I believed, happened to him:
After Morrowind, he settled down to a life of luxury with his vast wealth. Sadly he had a problem with spending and had to flee Morrowind when his debtors tried to take his life(His skills had deteriorated dramatically from a lack of use). Bad luck seemed to follow the Nerevarine as his debtors had contacts in the Blades. This resulted in the Nerevarine being secretly imprisoned in the Imperial Prison and all his valuables taken to pay back his debt. Luckily the cell that he was in, was also the Emperors escape route.....

Following the Oblivion Crisis, he stood down as the head of various guilds and spent just under 10 years as the Daedric Prince of Madness. He soon discovered however that he was turning into Sheogorath. Using the help of Haskill and Dyus, he was able to pass on the Title to someone more worthy. Following this, he returned to Cyrodil just in time for the Stormcrown Interregnum. Due to the bitter in-fighting this caused, he was slandered and his famous exploits were called into question. As a result, he spent the next 7 years living modestly as a political adviser. When Titus Meade invaded the Imperial City, he had to flee to Valenwood where he believed he could settle down.

In Valenwood, he changed his identity, met a Bosmer and settled down in one of their cities. The Thalmor invasion of Valenwood caused some uncertainty but it helped to hide his true identity. Over the next century, he lived peacefully with his family and became a full citizen of the Aldmeri Dominion. He eventually became a civil-servant and worked for the Thalmor.

Things changed 4 years before Skyrim began. The Thalmor became more paranoid and began to delve into the past of their staff. When they came to the "Dragonborn" they found his mysterious past very suspicious. When they couldn't find anything from before he came to Valenwood, they declared him to be an Imperial Spy. Fearing for his life, he fled Valenwood. He originally planned to head for Solstheim but had to pass through Skyrim to get there....
