The new HUD

Post » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:44 pm

Anyone else noticed how awesome the new Heads Up Display looks? It actually looks like its being seen from inside the helmet, and with weapons it even accounts for bullets in the magazine the one in the chamber! They're certainly going for a more technical, realistic approach this time round.

It's true, at the end of the day, you'll be playing in the eyes of a soldier, and he's wearing a mask/helmet which renders him information (In this case, the HUD.

But what you guys are seeing now is still not final. It will change until the end of development.

I think it's a cool idea and I like the design, but the constant bouncing around might get annoying.

The HUD should be small as possible, or should only show up once you click the reload button (Either way, whether you need to reload or even if you don't). If you play FC2, there's no HUD elements shown unless you do a certain action.

None the less, the HUD is looking pretty good.

I kind of like the hud as well. The singleplayer looks like it will be fun but the biggest factor for me is the multiplayer. With all that I have seen I really wonder what they are doing with the multiplayer.

NEW HUD IS AWESOME!!!!! I love it. There's a few tiny things that need to be fixed, like the icon of the weapon staying visible ALL the time (should only stay a few seconds like in Crysis), or that once the power reaches 0% it stops telling you what suit mode you are in. Other than that, its amazing.

I love the movement bobbing, very realistic.

ARTIC, if you don't like this game, then you shouldn't really be here. This is a community site to talk about Crysis. If you believe this is just like another game, then you might as well go, nothing will interest you here.

I'm not sure if it is more realistic, though. The HUD should move in sync with the player's head. Right now it looks like his helmet is a few sizes too big.

Totally dig the new HUD. Love the way it bounces around too. You can hear in some parts on the gameplay trailers, the breathing sound really makes it seem as though you're wearing a helmet :D

The art style of the new hud is great - it captures that futuristic next-generation look with all of those hexagons and lines. The only thing that bugs me is that the hud bobs around like it's had 5 bottles of brandy whenever the player is moving around. It was quite distracting for me., Hopefully it'll be toned down or there will be a console command to reduce/eliminate the bob.

I like the new HUD. I like the way HUD (Helmet) shakes while moving. Now, that's what I called 'Realistic'!
