I don't like it. Looks like Fable 3's map.

I definitely like the new map scheme, although an option to view it top-down would be nice. Being the -actual- world map, it makes seeing modded landmasses easy, with no need to go out of your way to draw a map for your new area yourself, or crank out a map that does have your modded areas, but reflects no other mods at all. ^^

I think it's entirely possible that the Clouds act as a Fog of War. That would certainly make it better imo.

It sounds irritating to me, that was my main problem with it.

If it was just a normal map where the locations popped up on it I wouldn't mind, but actual fog?

Can anyone explain how a character could have their own GPS satellite map

I feel the same, I want a map not a magical god view. It also takes away from the rewarding experience of finding the highest place in the game and things of that nature sense you'll know all these things the first time you look at the map.

I can't vote since i don't really know. I'll wait with my judgment untill i have actually tried the game. It looks good but it might not be good for the exploration.

Same way you did in Morrowind and Oblivion. It just looks prettier now.

The menu has a shiny modern UI and a GPS, now all we need is Angry Birds, and we're all set.

Looks awesome in my opinion. There's always gonna be people who don't though. 'Tis the way of the world. But luckily, they have modding. And if they are on consoles. Well, they'll just have to deal. Maybe some DLC will come out to alter the map in some way. For people to choose. I'm not hedging my bets on it though.

I still haven't seen a map on inside areas.. how that will work is what I'm wondering most about. The overland map is awesome I think. But will it work the same inside caves? How will they block the view of the map of unexplored areas?

Have the new map, but have a toggle-able paper overlay.

I like it, but i want to know more about it.. Like i would want to know if you can start the game and open your map and you know the entire map layout.. I want it to be like clouds covering the areas you haven't discovered..

I love it!
It'd be cool if as we pan/zoom/etc. around, it's as if we're in 1st Person view of Dragon.

I just hope I can put my own map markers and notes on it for the PC version. Either that or be able to put my own notes in a separate section of the journal. I need to keep a list of things to do when I take a break from the game once in a while for when I come back to it. My memory isn't that good sometimes.

I like it because

1. It looks nice
2. More importantly, it'll play better with mods.

It feels a bit like reinventing the wheel to me. A '2d' topographical map would have been an effective way of showing the player there is a mountain between him and point A without giving special SpaceView powers.

I like the idea of it, and it looks stunning. Probably will be harder to use though, glad they are giving both a cheap map and a nicer burlap one since I'm preordering, I'll be marking certain spots and using the cheap paper one if the in-game gets annoying.

I couldn't really vote as I like it, but I don't as I would prefer a paper map that your character actually holds in his/her hands. Oblivions was fine, but wished you could zoom out to see the whole map. I mean if it's supposed to be a paper map you wouldn't have to scroll around. You would just look at the whole thing.

I personally think it looks really annoying, I want to see a traditional map, not some 3D rendering of the world, it looks like Civilization 4.

First off, i dont even see how you could consider the new system to be a map. More of a 3d model. I dislike the looks of it but who knows. Id prefer a paper map you pull out.

Looks very flashy but the clouds are going to be really [censored] annoying.
I'd settle with a coloured map though.
Having it in 3D doesn't really improve anything imo.
Just another shiny thing to attract people really.
