the new mirelurks

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:52 am

in the game play trailer, you see the new mire lurk queen. however, in the concept art, (in the tilted ship pic, you see a couple mire lurks) you'll see that all mire lurks look like that. do you accept the new design? personally, i love the now model.

also, what about mire lurk KINGS. what will they look like?

Since mirelurk seems to be a generic term for "mutated mud dwelling creature",we can expect anything from crabs to catfishes.

Fun fact.

There was a catfish mirelurk originally designed in concept art for Fallout 3.

Lobster? as well ( Run zoidburg run). (no Shellfish)

So that would mean Mirelurk Kings are most likely Just called dinner by Boston natives. Hehe

Its a giant enemy crab.

Just attack his weak point for massive damage.

It's not impossible. I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than two meters.

I like the more crab-like look

always thought it was a bit weird how they had 'people' style legs (the crab-based lurks that is, the kings are fine since i think they are either mutated fish or turtles if i remember, so human/more evolved parts seems to fit better)

the new ones look much cooler to me

reminds me of the garthim from the dark crystal

I wouldn't read into the concept art too much. There's plenty of stuff that ever never actually makes it into the game or appears in a completely different form. The thing that I don't like is that they're changing the nature of Mirelurks by adding a Queen. In The Wasteland Survival Guide, you can observe that Mirelurks don't have any real hierarchy or social structure, and that they just sort of cluster together. The Kings were a separate species descended from snapping turtles. Though, now that I think about it, the Queen might be another separate species like the Kings.

There's no way that was based on Japanese history. For one thing that's actualy just a small crab. Godzilla takes care of the giant ones.

Also no tentacles

What's kind of funny, is that if your Dweller that's exploring doesn't have decent Intelligence, then he won't know to aim for the face, and ends up taking more damage from Mirelurks. I think it's like 4 Intelligence before they realize to shoot the face. The text is along the lines of "The face is the only unarmored part of a Mirelurk. I'll use that to my advantage".

I'm so glad that didn't make it to the game.

It looks like a guy in a bad rubber costume
