so is the next dlc going to keep freezing my ps3 like dead m

Post » Tue Dec 22, 2009 5:02 am

i find playing fallout almost impossible to play after downloading dead money. after i leave the bunker every 2 mins it just stops if this has happened to other people on ps3 can you let bathesda or obsidian know about it so they can fix it fast because if a dlc as small as dead money stops me from playing my game whats the next dlc going to do to it

Troll much? :P

On topic, I haven't had this problem but I'm on the 360. Other people have complained about this but for me its not an issue.

Yep. I freeze a lot more since finishing Dead Money. Didn't freeze too many times during it, but since returning to the Mojave :brokencomputer:

I too am having serious issues around the ABoS bunker. I am having repeatable lockups around Camp Forlorn Hope and Nelson specifically. It seems to get worse the further along your character is in certain quests and I can only get into Camp forlorn once and then thats it. Nelson seems completely unapproachable. I having been experimenting with workarounds as it blocked me from completing Stil In the Dark because of one the locations to get the scouting report is in the freeze zone. I created a new character from scratch just for dead money and went there almost immediately after the build. I then finished said DLC and started out fresh in the wasteland to see what issues might crop up. One of the bugs has to do with Legionares over spawning in Camp forlorn as I once fast travelled there and saved immediately. If I was quick enough I could kill all the Legion and make Camp F playable but Nelson seemed hopeless on that save so I had to revert several hours back to just leaving the Sierra Madre.

I am now in the process of folling the quest in a more linear fashion the way the makers intended and Still in the Dark is past the point where there is a problem but I still found Nelson to be a major problem and have yet to try Camp F again. I am going to try a couple of things; one is to wait for a quest that requires me to go to Camp F in the future and two, clearing out Nelson from extreme distances in the hopes of bypassing the issues. For now I am trying to get as much done as possible before I attempt this again. One major problem I for-see is with Raul and his dialog triggers with Cpl Sterling so I am making sure to have Raul with me at Camp McCarran before I talk with him as he moves to Camp Forlorn Hope once you do the ranger/NCR quest "I Don't Hurt Anymore". I also wait till Cpl Sterling moves to Camp F before "acquiring" La Longue Carabine so if the lockups perist I am going to be so sad...

I have 3 other character builds that had none of these issues but I have yet to play Dead money with them. They are more complete but less desirable builds for me. I wanted a fresh one just to see what might crop up and to prepare for for future DLC's.

P.S. I am on the PS3 only.

My DM playthrough was completely enjoyable with almost no freezes. It wasn't till I returned to the Wasteland that it got wonky. But i a very OCD'ish so finding workarounds adds a kinda enjoyment for me. I did try uninstalling all patches and DLC's (Classic pack too) just to see if it helped and it didn't. My PS3 is a slim less then a year old so it shouldn't be the hardware. I am getting another for the kids soon and will see if the problem persists to the second console. I will also see if the problem crops up on one of my other more mature builds both post and prior to going to the Sierra Madre.

It most likely will. I had soo much trouble playing through the dlcs in Fallout 3. If you can "get" it for the PC. It runs much smoother..

I played F3 just on the PC when it originally came out and didn't get any DLC (was new to me then). When I saw the F3 GOTY edition with that huge hardback guide I plowed through it with joyful abandon as it was alot more stable for me. I got it first for the 360 till the disc got scratched (round and deep) then I got the PS3 version and have never looked back.

The PC is much easier to fix with using console commands and mods by the excellent fan based community. Problem is with four kids and only one PC plus a laptop that can't run 3D games it was just easier for me to switch to a console. I abandon the xbox360 (now its just for my kids cause of Halo) as I got tired of my discs getting these weird circular scratches (lost Bioshock 2 and others because of that issue) and the PS3 is alot more media friendly for my rips of music and videos (BluRay discs hold up better imo) and I don't have to pay a subscription fee to play any online games.

I am not anti steam or anything but the anti piracy measures make running PC games a pain for me. I don't want to create an account just so I can play a game and give out more of my private info to the man. Not to mention having to constantly shell out for more up to date hardware to run things. I just miss the days of buying a PC game, popping it in, enter the serial key, and getting down to business. But i have been computing since the Commodore 64 days and even though it seems things are better now, I just get tired of having to do detailed research to resolve issues with mods and the like. Plus moving a console around is much simpler for me as I am a cripple (I like that word for some reason).

One thing going for this issue is there is a ton of documentation and its not one console specific so patching is much more likely; just not necessarily promptly resolved, but there is still a bunch I can do in the Mojave wasteland and maybe someone around here will figure out a workaround eventually.
