You know what would be an epic way to kick off QuakeCon. Have the pro-players Quake players there start the presentation off with a 1v1 DooM death match on stage. ON PC!

Wait why did his gun have UAC on it? I'm pretty sure he didn't borrow it from them, not sure if demons are that smart, even if it is THE CYBERDEMON.

Maybe he was caught when they were experimenting with demons on mars and they decided to make him a war machine?

I like that they're calling it just that. Sends an undeniable message of what exactly this game is going to be.

I hope you do the franchise justice, but after Rage, I don't trust id anymore unfortunately... Someone posted this under the video teaser in the comments section, I want to copy&paste that, because I agree with everything.

-Non-linear, expansive levels!
-No iron sights, this is not CoD!
-Badass weapons with amazing animations, especially the iconic shotgun!
-Fast character movement, allowing for projectile dodging!
-No regenerative health, bring back medpacks!
-Hordes of demons to frag!
-No pretentious storytelling or omnipresent cutscenes shoved down the players' throats (like in Wolfenstein: New Order...Different developer, but don't try doing the same thing)
-manual saving, don't rely solely on checkpoints (again, New Order handled it terribly, you can't load the game from the middle of a chapter, for example)

iron sights were very optional in Rage, I'd prefer that over a hard rule of no iron sights. Even Wolf followed the same thing.
Everything else is needed and EPIC Multiplayer. The first true id multiplayer in so long.

This DOOM reveal makes me little sad. I went GAF, Reddit, and other gaming boards and it doesn't seems to getting that much attention, almost buried by other E3 announcements. Bad timing? Not much shown? Probably DOOM is not a huge franchise it used to be...
I want id to make really great DOOM game and bring the franchise back to it's popularity. It has to be really great to make it happen, not just Wolfenstein good, but REALLY great.
And most of all, I want the game to have a proper DOOM gameplay, DOOM spirit. Not an Call of Duty / System Shock wannabe. Many shooter games are copy of COD these days, but those 'followers' can never be successful as COD, not even a half. The better way is to have their own style and gameplay. Like Halo was. (and Halo 4 MP's huge concurrent user drop tells a lot) Even the original DOOM was able to be a success because it provided different experiences from other games.
Although DOOM's gameplay fomular is 20 years old, if things are done well, I think DOOM can still appeal to masses. And I really hope they don't streamline the game too much in trying to do so. Instead, make a nice guide system. Levels don't have to be very simple/linear if the game has nice guide system. Players' movement speed can be fast even with controllers if the game has some kind of dodging/focus system or something like that. If id can make smart decisions, they can make both old and new gamers happy.

It will get attention after all the E3 dust settles. It was a wise choice by Beth to decide to show the game at QuakeCon and not E3, else it would have been lost even more.

In a month all E3 news would have died out, and people will be moving on. This would be a good time to shock the world with a proper gameplay reveal.

I don't think they could screw up DOOM (the release, that is  )

They know DOOM defines idSoftware. If DOOM fails, they will fail, and the world will hate them for it, forever.

Though I must admit, thinking about what they've done with the time, my expectations aren't THAT high. All I can do is keep myself from overthinking and expecting too much.

I would suggest everyone else also expect less than more. After all, if you expect too much you'll be let down, whereas expecting something "reasonable" will put a smile on your face when you play. A bloody smile with an evil grin.

If they pull off level design like the original Doom games, then I will be happy. After that is done, anything else is bonus and I'll be a happy camper.

Hugo Martin! Yep! That's why I was pretty much confident about new doom at least in art department....didn't like Pacific Rim that much but jagers design was damn awesome! This cyberdemon does really feel like it's Martin's vision and probably Kevin Cloud"s I guess....assuming Cloud is still at id. Though Cyberdemon doesn't look canonical here, it's sure looks awesome anyway.

Yeah, I don't think it looks like the iconic Cyberdemon, but I love seeing this art style/design (thanks for the name 'Huge Martin' there) and I already think I'll love these designs as much as I'll love the originals.

I'll probably just have the 2 categories, the Romero-Cloud demons and the Hugo demons, and I'll love them both the same :D

Well let's see.....there's still a "flesh fused with hi-tech" formula....so it is doom's in fact! But what's more important that it looks terrifying....it's more than enough))

But hold on! Really.....it's a CG....no way demons in game would look like this.. ....so it could be looking more iconic in actuall game.

It's going to be hard for this DOOM to satisfy everyone. Some people want just a demon shooting gallery, others want a survival horror with a thrilling atmospeher and a story. I hope that it will somehow find a compromise.
