The next Fable game

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:28 pm

So I've been playing Fable 3 and am very satisfied with it so far. I've been pondering the next game though and would like it to be set between fable 1 & 2. Bring back alot of the lost spells from fable 1 also.

Post your own thoughts!

Actually, im currently playing Fable III. It's alright, Fable isn't really my favorite series. But its kinda fun to play.
If there is ever a Fable IV, i think i might have to pass on it or wait till it gets down to about $20 since the series is dying off too me.

It is fun, but its ludicrously easy. I want a difficulty setting at the least, and actual consequences for dieing.

So soon? I'm not sure the world can handle that much disappointment. :meh:

I still have to wait for the PC release of Fable III. Or even a precise release date, what with the shroud of secrecy great M$ has cast around Lionhead.
I really would like to check this UI-less approach out.

Yea, it is definitely set for casual gamers. Games without a challenge tend to be a bit more boring to me then games that actually hold a challenge.

I would like to see fable 4 handed to a different developer, bring the series back to its roots!

Street Fighter is a challenging game.

Get Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360.

Not a big fan of fighting games. The only series i really liked was Tekken and haven't played that in years.

People begin talking about potential sequels for games just days after the game comes out. It has nothing to do with the games quality. Besides its been out since October last year.

Anyways, I think each game has unique ideas that were implemented well. The weapon morphing in fable 3 is awesome. I would argue that the world feels more alive then oblivion's. Character customization is always great and everyone seems to forget what makes fable unique, body morphing.

One of the big things is don't like in the Fable games is how 2 or 3 people start talking at the same time, and you can't hear what you want.
Ex: I was following Walter in Fable 3 and he was telling me something important, then 2 civilians come up and start talking and i missed what he said at the end. :banghead:

Thats happened a lot, and i don't know half of the stuff that's going on in the story cause of this.

Lionhead would never release control of the series.

I really enjoyed the original fable and 2 was ok. I've yet to find fable 3 for cheaps yet.

Also I hate body morphing.

If anything wait till it hit $20, if that.
If you can find it under that, I'd suggest to get it at least 1 playthrough.

I'd like to see the series go backwards in terms of timeframe too - I had wondered where the series would go seeing as they seemed to have reached an industrial revolution of sorts, and the idea of going forward more and seeing skyscraqers or something in Fable IV seems weird to me.

Do not read the following spoiler section if you haven't finished yet.

Spoiler
From I have heard from my friends if that it is nigh on impossible to get people to like you at the end of the game. You keep all your promises and have no money at the end and then people die, they respawn and hate you. Or you break all of your promises and have enough money to save people, yet they still hate you.
That sounds really enjoying, imo.

You can do it, but it could be tedious:
Spoiler
Spend ages beforehand amassing literally millions in gold, then keep your promises and use your own personal cash to prop up the treasury. Tbh I'm not there yet (2nd playthrough), but i have heard it can be done.

I quite like that you have to make difficult choices though, although I do feel they were a bit dichotomous (I think that's the right word lol). Would've been nice if for some of the choices you had a middle ground where you didn't spend/save/earn as much as you would with the extreme options.

I've only ever played Fable The Lost Chapters, since that's the only on on the PC. I would try out Fable 2 and 3 if they were on the PS3 or PC, but they're not...

Hehe. About the only thing he said in Oblivion that wasn't making fun of the fanbase.

I've only ever played the first one and personally thought it was great. I had an old, original Xbox which I used to play Fable, but I don't have a 360 and am quite upset that the series isn't available on Playstation consoles. Did it really go downhill after the first one, though?

Fable needs to die. TLC was amazing, 2 was bad, I expected 2 with 3, avoided hype, and it limbos right under that low bar, andgoes lower than rock botom.
LH are just embarasing themselves at this point. And they clearly show they arent listening, flaws from fable 2 are back in 3, some are even worse. Fable tlc was my favorite game, I dont like seeing fable dragging itself through the mud. PM ruined fable with gimmicky [censored] like family, the dog, jobs, "maiking it more accessible" and just destroying what made the first good.
If fabloe cant die (sadly 5 were planned) then what can I hope the next is like ? Fable tlc. But its clear they arent going down that path fable is in its own direction because LH has deluded themselves. They had a chance to change but have kept up the gimmicks and watered it down. So no chance of it ever getting better, so yeah just needs to die before it can get any worse (god knows how, but I am sure PM will find away, he managed to make 3 simpler than 2 after all).

Ok I am not going to keep ranting.

I loved Fable TLC. Fable 2 however left me dissapointed. I enjoyed Fable 3 (the first time) because I treated it as Fable 2.5, having nothing to do with the original game. Hell, you could rename Albion "Magical Land" and it would'nt impact the story or the connection to the first game.

I doubt I'll be getting Fable 4 (if there is one), I only played 2 and 3 because my brother bought them for his 360. Lionhead seem as determined as possible to move away from the series being a collection of RPG games, instead turning them into an action-adventure series with a few moral choices and a total lack of difficulty.
