The Great War, that occurred thirty years before the events of Skyrim, was when the Aldmeri Dominion (an alliance of the Altmer and the Bosmer) The Empire was crippled, while the Aldmeri Dominion feigned weakness and desperation. They then forced the Emperor to sign the White-Gold Concordat, the peace treaty that banned the worship of Talos, which is a horrendous blow to Mankind, and allows the Aldmeri Dominion to continue with their plans to undo creation to ascend to Heaven.
So the next game would (in my opinion) be incredible if this was the story. It wouldn't be as boring as people think, as the whole 'ending the world' theme could offer tonnes of extra story for the main questline.
I think that the game would have the Aldmeri as the enemies, not allowing the player to side with these, as this would mean the end of the world and therefore the end of the Elder Scrolls.
What do you all think?
