The next Hold It!

I'd add the poll to the current Hold it! thread but I don't think it's possible.

For the next version of Hold it!, I'm considering a number of changes and would love your opinions and suggestions.

1. Chance for npcs to have an item: 50% for a shield item, 50% for a light item.

I've had complaints that too few npcs actually hold anything.
Do you share this feeling?
I could: give more npcs a chance to carry something. Currently, aggressive npcs, scripted npcs as well as blocked npcs are untouched, OR simply increase the chance to get an item for the npcs already modified.

In any case, I want to tweak the chances to get an item for those classes that only have a couple of choice (scouts and caravaners for e.g) since they all tend to get the same item (a spyglass and hourglass respectively)
Do you feel other classes should be tweaked?

2. Increase the chances for an item to be picked.

Right now, a commoner has 50% to not get anything, if he does get something, there is an equal chance he'd get a shovel or a bucket.
Do you feel some items should be more common?

3. Should some items be removed from the levelled lists?

I have already decided to remove the loaf of bread and the log in favour of the baskets carrying those.
Other items you feel are too ugly to be seen?

4. Should some items be given to specialist classes only?

Commoners have the largest variety of items because I decided that they too could fish, saw, etc... The downside is that some classes stand out less because they are not the only ones holding the tools of their trades.
Should I go for realism or favour a more 'rpg' approach: to each class its own?

5. Baskets?

Should I introduce the baskets (carried on the back) http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/newholdit.jpg knowing that npc may have them indoors (they are no that big as too block the way) and that they use the left pauldon slot (most npcs with hold it items don't wear armour at all).
People using MCA have probably notice commoners holding a hand basket filled with various wares. Should I add more of those?

Anything else you'd like modified / added? Let me know.

I think at the moment the chance of someone holding an item is just fine. I'm not sure about the rest but one of the things I really liked was seeing the scribe in the Mournhold Palace Courtyard holding a quill, and that would be made less awesome if lots of other NPCs had quills.

I also remember hearing complaints about NPCs carrying what looked like a "bee hive"...
