The next West Coast Fallout...

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:18 pm

Maybe it's a little early to start thinking about this, but where would everyone like to see the next west coast Fallout take place? Or maybe in the DLC for New Vegas?
One of my ideas would be a few years after New Vegas, you start out leaving a Vault (maybe you were from the vault, maybe you were just scaving) in Arizona, only to be captured by Ceasers Legion and become a slave.
First thing you have to do is escape. Feel free to disagree with me, but I think this would be a good possibility with plenty of potential.

How about a Fallout that takes place RIGHT after the bombs fell. Sure, there would be a lack of certain creatures, but you could see the start of the Enclave, NCR etc and help who you want.

You know, I do kind of like the idea of redoing Fallout 1 & 2 in the new engine as long as it is done RIGHT.

I wouldn't mind Beth/Obsi FIRST fixing the issues(bugs, glitches, etc) with FO NV BEFORE starting FO NV DLC or FO 4.Dont put the trailer before the tractor.

Yes please. (But as an east coaster, I saw a lot more recognizable stuff in Fallout 3 than I'd ever recognize from the west coast...)

NO NEW FALLOUT 1 AND 2

They just won't work in the engine. Those games spanned thousands of square miles and hundreds of days, you just can't do that with a free roam engine.

I hope to see this New Cannan they mention, but that might be better suited for a DLC.

I'd like to see more about the status of Arizona/Legion and Utah/Mormons.

But the NCR was started by Tandi after the events of Fallout 1, and Fallout 1 takes place in 2161.

Also, I don't like the idea of Fallout 1/2 in the new engine. I really don't see any benefit to it.

Why would it have to be West-Coast? What about Florida/Georgia? I'm sure something interesting could be done with the Florida Keys as small separate tribes/fortresses depending on the size of the various keys, and the long-spanning bridge that hits many of them.
then there's the Intercoastal waterway and all of the 'Islands' that connect due to it.

I wouldn't mind revisiting The Hub, New Reno, pretty much any of the settings from 1 & 2. Yeah I do like the idea of remaiking them as well, but it would also be cool just to revisit them later in the FO timeline.

I suggested West Coast locations because that was the title of the thread. Personally, while I'm interested in seeing Florida and vaguely recall there being an old project (like Van Buren) related to the location, I'd much rather see something outside of the USA for a change. What's happening in South America and Africa? Were they even serious targets in the Nuclear war? How is the Chinese Wasteland recovering from the American bombardment? Did the Russian government survive by hiding out in Siberia?

There's a lot of interesting things that could be taking place elsewhere and they've barely been mentioned so far.

Wherever it is, I hope the Chinese remnants show up.

The setting does not lack fanatics who hold to old idealogies or orders. Just have a group of chinese who waited for some reason (maybe they got trapped) and started passing down the goal of conquering the US down to their children. Then eventually the children get free and CONQUEST.

Somewhere northwest of USA - maybe even partly over the border to Canada - could probably make a decent and refreshing setting.

Chinese remnants were done in Fallout 2 as the Shi as well as Fallout 3's ghouls you know.

I think you can make an educated guess that Bethesda will be setting their in-house games in places we haven't seen yet, probably on the east coast. They'll be missing a trick if they don't include the androids and Institute mentioned in 3 if you ask me.

I did not know. But I would rather see them as the primary antagonists of a game, not merely a faction.
