The Nightstalker makes no sense.

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:27 am

You're all wrong. Clearly the "Nightstalker" was inspired by the legendary Chupacabra.

From Wiki:

Hmm. I figured that was what they were going for. I'm actually thinking on how someone could re-texture them to be a wee bit less insane. Probably trading scales for mange.

Ah, you mean in contrast to the fire-breathing ants from FO3?

Fire ants are back in Vegas!

Yes I think the reptile dogs should have just had scaley/hairy hides, reptile eyes, fangs, maybe no ears, and a small rattler.

You ever eaten rattler? Tastes like chicken.

I hope we get to skin them and make them into clothing, the snake head would be a great hood.

They do look goofy to me but I'll just chalk them up to pre war genetics research. Or maybe post war...

Wow it would be awesome if we could craft our own armor from slain enemies, a snake hood would be great.

Many reports of Chupacabra sightings in the US are of the "Reptilian Coyote" type. Normally they're just dog/coyote hybrids with parasite issues and mange, which makes them look scaly and freaky as all get out. However, when I first saw the trailer depicting the Nightstalkers, and long before they had a name, I had decided that they were clearly a nod to this version of the Chupacabra. I'm actually pretty pleased with it.

No problem with the Nightstalkers for me (they do look a bit...odd), but I have to say, not really digging the geckos from what I have seen so far. They're too cute. Like them as an enemy and all, but they need a reskin. Something vicious and nasty.

Geckos aren't vicious and nasty. The fat-tailed variety are quite possibly the tamest and most docile species of reptiles on the planet. Unless they view you as prey. In that case, you're screwed. Oh, and the big frilled ones breath fire.

So you noticed Fire Ant meat in that dev diary about cooking/crafting too?
I wonder how they will explain them being in Vegas since they were made by a scientist in DC...

Do we have pictures of the finalised Nightstalkers? The pics on the Vault are all from the pre-alpha based trailer. Looks might have changed...
Other than that, I find this strange rattlesnake-coyote combination weirdly cute. ^_^
