The Nords 'Battlecry' Ability

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 2:50 am

I read somewhere that when the Nords of Skyrim conquered northern Tamriel, they were able to do so by using Shouts, or the Voice. I read that every Nord Warrior knew the Voice, and that every Nord Warrior used it in battle.

I read that after the disaster at... I believe it was Red Mountain? Something like that... I read that the leader of the Nordic Armies discovered the Nords had been punished for using the Voice in such a way.

Anyway it goes on to say that the Nordic ability to use the Voice simply faded from use and to this day it is not common anymore.

But this got me thinking... is the Nordic ability to use Battlecry like a lasting effect? Is Battlecry, in a sense, a Shout? That makes sense to me, a lot of sense.

Possible, but I take it more along the lines that it sort of represents the Nords tenacity and eagerness for battle, going along the lines of it "shocks and appalls their enemies." That and there's a shout that produces the same effect as is. However, it does reflect the Nords love for being really, really, loud.

I always thought the possibility of both Battlecry and Voice of the Emperor being derived from the Thu'um to be a pretty cool idea.

I am pretty sure in past TES games that Voice of the Emperor made people like you more.

I always thought the Battlecry shout should not only demoralize enemies, but give boost to followers and allies. And temporarily increase your movement speed and stamina so you can catch up with and cut down your enemies. Kinda of like a charge ability. It should mostly demoralize weaker enemies. Enemies who are a certain number of levels below you just to balance it though. Example: So you can scare off the Draugr and focus on the Priest.

Ever seen a 6ft largely build man charge at you completely crazed and screaming at you? That's the Battlecry ability right there.

Don't forget that he's wearing armor and brandishing a big weapon.

Doesn't need armor. If he were naked, I'd be [censored]ting myself harder.
