The nuicence of the Dovahkiin

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:34 pm

As a prisoner stepped out into Seyda Neen (s)he is beset by a woodelf inquiring about a ring he had lost.

As a prisoner not unlike the last became the champion of the Imperial City Arena, a young woodelf not unlike one encountered in the city of Skingrad, begged the hero to be allowed to follow him/her and quickly became a nuisance.

Even the Lone wanderer of the wastes was not exempt from annoyance, a teen from the settlement of Little Lamplight asked to be escorted to Bigtown.

The point I'm getting across is that for the last few games Bethseda has managed to create an npc that was hated by much of the fanbase for it's annoyance. I also believe that I might have some ideas one what the new nuisance of Skyrim will be.

1. It will be a Wood-elf
2. He or she will be from the Bard's College

That is all.

I think Fargoth's 'annoyingness' was actually unintentional. It was just the fact that he's the first bosmer you meet, and the first one to have a very high disposition to you, so he starts saying creepy things (I think you and I are about to become, very close) in that annoying Bosmer voice.

Of course Gaenor, Glarthir, Adoring Fan and the FO3 dude were intended to be annoying. :hehe:

It would be nice if they would take Wood Elves more seriously in Skyrim, those poor guys just can't take a break. :P

Follow them until they are away from the crowd. Then take 'em out and bury them in an out-of-the-way place.

I ignored most of them.

Although there was one annoying character that I killed, that Glarthir guy. But that was for the quest anyway. ;) He was pretty scary aswell, the first time I entered Skingrad and he suddenly approached me my heart skipped a beat.

I didn't find Fargoth so super annoying as some did I guess. Killed Glarthir and he deserved it. Thank Akatosh they gave you the option to tell the adoring fan to bugger off though. I really don't like him...

I found using crreatefullactorcopy on the annoying fan and then taking them to dive rock and throwing them all off the top was immensely satisfying. :tes:

Everyone seems to forget this guy when talking of the most annoying npcs. Anyone even remotely resembling him will be found in a shallow and very cold grave.

I blame homophobia. Because all wood elves are obviously gay.

He says that he thinks you're about to become very close, but if you decided to practice your persuasion skill on him and agree, he rather nastily shoots you down. Granted my character was less than sincere in her liking for him, but still ...

Nonethesless, I've never killed him. Indeed, I've never even taken his stash in revenge.

Sorry, I can't select any of the poll choices. Aside from the bottom choice, which is obviously wrong, there's no "all of the above, repeatedly" option for the others.

What was needed for MW was a mod to create an even deadlier "end boss" than the one under Red Mountain, who really controlled the whole thing behind the scenes: "Fargoth Ur".

I never found Fargoth annoying. I never gave the Adoring Fan enough attention to be annoyed by him, I just told him I didn't need fans the second he offered to follow me around. I never even saw the guy from Fallout 3.

Why do you guys think that wood elves are portrayed as annoying little buggers?

I think it's because they want every race in the Elder Scrolls to have something about them. And sometimes they have stereotypes for each race as well.

Just seems that they are trying to get them away from the standard fantasy wood-elfs (tall, and beautiful) and try to make them more realistic, and just unique in their own.

A wood elf is a good chance, but I doubt they will be from the brads guild. Being a brad is a Nord thing.
