[WIP] The Oblivion Centaur Project

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:00 am

Wow this really is most impressive. :goodjob:

Not sure if you already answered this previously but is there a chance you could use Robert's upper body instead of vanilla?

All that would be need to change is so the horse part lines up with the torso of robert's. So it should be no problem.

Will you add any kind of functional substitute for the acrobatics flip? Even just a quicker version of the jump. I don't understand all of the processes, so if it's a time consuming technical thing, that's fine. :)

Great looking mod so far! :ahhh: :tops: :coolvaultboy: :toughninja:

If you have any ideas.....Im open to hearing them. But I cant think of any way to replace them. It just falls into the same area as sneak, centuars are just not agilie enough and too big to do these things.

Sorry if this has already come up but have you heard of MAO (mayus animation overhaul)? From what I've read, it lets the PC have different animations than the rest of the NPC's. Might be useful, might not. I don't know much about it as I don't use it myself.

Ravin

While I could script it, this would require heaps of key detection, and would make this totally player only. I want to aviod that, I really want is possible to make NPCs from this. Then again, they might ot if different ot how i think they do.

Good evening,
recently I discovered a project started by the moddor Nivea (moddor of the meshes of female bodies UFF).
A creation project of Centaur, and it would be said well that it had make some animation.
Here the bond towards its storage space online (which it places at the disposal).
=> http://www.4shared.com/account/home.jsp
Go in "DATACentaur". ^^

Um you mean me? I have no centaur race, I mean I am pretty sure I dont...I also dont have a 4shared account, I did work on a snake person race once.
Perhaps this is a different modder called Nivea, though I doubt it since I have that name almost all forums dealing with Oblivion/Morrowind XD

Oh Nivea i'm really sorry.

But yesterday while going on the page of the mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15469 .
It is given there a bond towards a Shared account, where is there the meshes and textures for bestial feet to put at its character Argonian.
And in its read-me, the thanks goes to you.

Thus I deduced from it (alas in an unhappy way) that it was your Shared account.

Here the bond of the Shared account, with a file Centaur containing of the screens.

Yes, that was an old project, which got pretty far, looked marvelous too.
I believe it was done by JDayT, of the Satyr race, which never really got finished either, sadly.

Heh, it took me quite some time to realize you're talking about jDayT's readme and not mine. I triple-checked and searched my AB readme for "Nivea" and the only occurance was where I recommended her male version of the body textures from TFF. Was almost going crazy about not finding what you were talking about.
Then I re-read your post and searched jDayT's readme instead, and in fact there's a thanks to Nivea around the end for NifSkope testing and such.
The meshes are all courtesy of jDayT. He created quite some really awesome ones. B)

My, that was some confusion we got here.

ahhh, yes I remember that project a while back, it was trying to make creature centuars I believe. They did pretty good too from what i remember,

@HaZdawg11:
It hasnt been two years of straight work, its sort of was something i would do a little on and then stop again as I learnt stuff, and it has been restarted about 4 times now in order for it to work.

Currently on a hold up becuase of a problem making animations, I think my skeleton is corrupted again....which means I have to rebuild it again (a tedious job that Ive been putting off).

So has your skeleton corrupted? If it has that svcks! If not that's good!

Still you have been doing stuff on this project (which looks really hard to do) and so  to you!

This is probably the biggest character mod in Oblivion so keep at it! :D

well at the moment I'm taking a break from this mod, as I havent been in the mood to create animations. I have done this many times before on this mod, then I suddenly get another spur and there will be a big jump in progress. Lately I've been working in the CS again on a diferent mod for a change of tune (no not annonced, but very close to release).

Thanks to Koniption, who both found an important bug with assigning the skeleton, then followed up with an answer to it, the project is still in my mind.

I can tell you that I have almost finsihed merging the jumping anaimtions (was what i was doing when i stopped before), but they require a bit of custom editing....which i need to rebuild the skeleton to be able to do (yes, I still have been putting it off).

EDIT: I just tried fixing the skeleton with no success, Im totally confused why this is happening..it never used to happen so  Im going to have to keep asking

Is it possible to fix the skeleton or do you have to start again?

I have been waiting for ages for a centaur mod!!! Please make yours the first, only and best!!!

I have dieas to try, but right now i cant do anything more till i get this fixed.

EDIT: update, just found that the 2.5 nifscripts were the issue (reverted back to the 2.4 ones), ill report the bug and hopefully get it fixed. Then i can get back to work.

not for a little while, PacificMorrowind is currently trying to track down the problem in nifscripts that is detroying my custom animations on export.

Until we can get that solved there wont be any progress.

Didnt you read what i wrote earlier:

Anything if I have to ajust the top half then you cannot where a cuirass with, so that makes this sort of pointless. As, i cannot change the animations for the upper half as that would effect all actors. The best i can do is make the horse part bigger (through the mesh) and use a race scaler (which effects both halfs) to make it bigger/smaller. I did not fit the torso to the horse, i downsized the horse to fit the torso, as that is what has to happen, as I cannot change the location of the torso without losing the ability to equip anything. Thats oblivion modding.

The only course of actions (and one I have acted on once and am considering again) is to make the horse part bigger and longer.

I think it was Reneer, maybe TalkieT, but someone had found a way to give different NPCs different skeletal variations, by scaling their bones, and it affected whatever they wore as well. This may be of interest to you. Just trying to be helpful, this looks stunning so far, I really can't believe what people have managed for this game!

while that is true yes, and I did look into it a bit, it wouldnt really work. It does lets me have a 'centaur skeleton' which fixes some other issues (like having to overwrite the base skeletons in the game) but it wouldnt really work to let me edit the human part animations. I did alot of looking around on this, and found it would be feasiable to do.

I can finally say, all that stuff that I said I couldnt changes (human half animations, horse size too small etc) I can do it now :)

I found a way to spilt the player animations away from all other NPCs, so i can script it if they are a centaur to use a different set of animations from normal. Koniption sent some infomation my way about gamesettings and another mod, piecing it together and testing I found it was totally possible.

So you could call this redesign 4, however all the animations Ive already made just need altering, not re-making. First to do is making the horse part bigger and remaking the skeleton (joining the human part onto the horse, instead of the horse to human). You wouldnt believe how many problems this solves for me....really this helps heaps. :) Im able to edit how the huamn half moves and really total freedom (rearing powerattack for hand to hand anyone?). This is a great step forward on this.

Thanks for sticking with me on this, I have my laptop back so it should be full steam ahead on animations now.
