The Oblivion Dead is Dead Thread

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 8:02 am

This is playstyle taken from the guys, in the FONV forum. I'm sure it's been done here at some point, in the past. I attempted a search, but found nothing. It spun into something rather fun, and mostly short lived for most. I thought it would give a new spin on some of the characters I have created, in Oblivion. At least something to do until Skyrim. It really makes the game exciting, knowing that at any moment, the end could fall upon you. This isn't for everyone. It is best tried with kookie, strange, off the wall characters and builds that you would not normally play. That way you will be less incline to become attached to them.

Just one rule...Dead is Dead.

When your character falls in battle, or falls from a cliff, that's it. They are dead. Game over. No reloads. If your character falls, due to a glitch, or the game locks up that's different.

If you want to try a run, feel free to list your new characters, with a backstory if you like. As well as, their starting stats and limitations. Update your progress. Much like the "Where are you now", thread. It's really not any different from most of your guy's playing...aside from the dead and done part.

When and if that happens, post there name and date of passing. If enough people want to try a run. I will start a graveyard, in the OP, so they will be forever remembered. In case you want to do so, I will make a different post for my first character, to keep post 1 clear.

Dead is dead has always interested me. I think I might try this, but with a new character on a vanilla game. There's no way in hell I'm doing this on my current one.

I'll decide on a character and post his/her status here.

My first character...

Name - Machia D'Sangue ( Italian, roughly translates to Blood Stain )
Race - Nord
Birthsign - Atronarch
Class - Evil B ( auto censor will not let me finish the last part )
-----------Special - Combat
-----------Fav Atrbs - Strength and Endurance

Majors Skills

Armorer
Athletics
Blade
Block
Heavy Armor
Restoration
Acrobatics

Difficulty setting - Normal

Limits - Hell, I don't really know. For now, try to use only Major Skills. Unless otherwise actually needed. Other than that...must be under the influence of drink as much as possible. Must sleep each and every night, starting at 9PM. Must consume at least 6 drinks before bed. Basically...Get piss drunk and pass out every night. Keeping up with the leveling thing is bunk. What ever happens...happens. If she gets behind in the leveling...well that's just too damn bad.

Machia is a smokin' hot Nord, from Skyrim. Kind of like a Red Sonja, with Blue hair. She is as strong as an ox, completely fearless, very low Intel and a raging alcoholic. She was imprisoned after a bar fight. Where she left an Imperial Guard, unable to father any children.

She leaves the sewers, with nothing but boots, shield and a rusty sword. Oh...and 3 bottles of ale.

One of my main characters, Arum, has never died yet, but I'm not sure I could let him go if it did happen.

I could try this with a totally new character, but I don't think it would be possible to keep up my main two, not with the skyrim release so near as well. So I'll turn a rarely-played Khajiit character into a dead is dead. She hasn't died yet either, but she's had a lot of near misses. (She's actually a re-incarnation, but that's a different, more complicated story.) I probably won't get chance to play her much but I'll be interested in reading everyone else's

Okay:
Name: Risa, or R'isa
Race: Khajiit

Main skills: hand to hand, conjuration, block, sneak. Doesn't focus on anything else.

Back story: She woke up at the stables outside Bravil with nothing but a mages robe, a bottle of skooma and the amulet of kings in her pocket. No weapon. There was a dead unicorn and a dead Bravil guard by her side. In the distance she could see a strange island in the niben bay so she decided to swim to it. She decided she had nothing to lose by going through the strange door, thus entering the shivering isles.
(What really happened was she didn't take the amulet to Jauffre, found a unicorn in the wilderness and rode it to Bravil, then punched a guard to death for attacking it. Complete madness. Perfect for the shivering isles.)

So Risa is going to do the shivering isles. She was forced to pick up a bow to defeat the gatekeeper, and she's kept this bow with her, but she still prefers hand to hand where possible, with the aid of a summon.

Somehow, I have a feeling she isn't going to survive very long, not without picking up a proper weapon anyway.

Well...Look who dropped in.

No, I would't commit a main character to it. That's why it's better to start one with crazy stats and or limits, just to make it interesting. Although, I must admit...There was one in particular, during a FONV run, that I really locked onto. I almost teared up when I lost him. But it is what it is. Good luck with the character you start.

Risa sounds like a cool kitty. I'm glad you are giving it a go. Playing like this, can get pretty intense sometimes. It will be a fun way to pass the time, before Skyrim. I plan to start it with a no HUD, physical map only and a notepad, playing DID.

GL with R'isa, in the isles. I'm looking forward to hearing about her adventures.
