I cant remember, but once you get to the point in the MQ where the Oblivion gates open, are they randomly placed in the game world?

Or do they all have preset places, and only X% of them show up or something. Its been so long since Ive done the MQ...

Anyway, can anyone basically make an Oblivion 'level' and just sort of hand it to you guys in this thread? Ive been kinda wanting to try my hand at modding, and just making a few Gates(dungeons basically) seems like it would be a good place to start. Im just not sure if Id have to like, add it into a sort of gate leveled list, or go into the gameworld and pick a doorway to link to the cell.

The gates are pre-placed I think and then activated when you reach a certain point, but each gate has a random list (bar a couple special gates) attached to it and the game randomly pulls from that list.

Sure go ahead and make a realm, anyway you like. Hand it up to me and it will be inlcuded in ORP, no need to do any list editing or anything :D

Hey IS! I need a clarification in the file paths. I've just finished my retexes of the Ayleid tile set and want to connect them with the nif's with the right file structure. Now, this is in the first post:

Data\Meshes\Oblivion\ORP\xxx.nif
Data\Textures\Oblivion\ORP\xxx.dds

Is that correct? Or is it supposed to be:

Oblivion/Data/meshes/ORP/xxx.nif
Oblivion/Data/Textures/ORP/xxx.dds

Want to make sure I do it right so I don't have to go back and do it again. There are a LOT of them. :lmao:

Actually only realised I made a mistake when typeing that out, its this:

Oblivion/Data/meshes/ORP/xxx.nif
Oblivion/Data/Textures/ORP/xxx.dds

now I better check the ESM :lmao:

Yeah it was :embarrass:

Also the texture path in the nif should start as follows:

texture\orp\xxx.dds

If you have another folder within the ORP one then it will be extended, but make sure it points to the texture and not a specific directory :P

LOL I got it. My file paths look like this:

Textures/ORP/architecture/xxx.dds
Textures/ORP/landscape/xxx.dds
meshes/ORP/architecture/xxx.nif
meshes/ORP/landscape/xxx.nif

So that should work fine yeah? :foodndrink: Adding them is slow going. Due to the darker color the pieces now are, the contrast gets...upset with me on some textures. LOL And I have to open it back up, lower the contrast and replace it. So that's adding time to getting them put together in Nifskope but it's coming! It also means someone will have to go through my dungeon with a careful eye for blips in the textures once I get it put together. :lmao:

Looks good, its most important for when you are placing files in a .BSA, can sometimes cause problems.

Its the part I hate about retexing a large set like that, I tried the command line replacer tools but I don't like them, so by hand it is :D

Well this needs to float back to the top for a bit! :D Mace, Aellis, how go the realms? :lmao: I've finished my retexture of the Ayleid tile set. Now, I just need to figure out how to create an Oblivion realm in the CS and I can start building. LOL

Actually, I haven't worked on anything for a while.
I'm currently BAINifying my mods. And there are a lot of them.
I'm only half way through and it's been almost two weeks.
But I haven't forgotten or lost interest in this.

LOL No worries Aellis! Not like anyone's holding a stop watch on you! :lmao: Which is good since I've been busy with RST and my own house mods recently. As I'm just putting the finishing touches on my newest house, I'll get started on my realm in earnest once it's released.

this is all looking amazing!!
Have any of you thought of making Hiricine's realm? it was in one of the elder scrolls games, think it was daggerfall or something
would definitely be an interesting realm to be in, just surviving against hunters and you can only kill them with a certain weapon

Oh guys, by the way, if you're considering Quagmire at all the guys over at Tamriel-rebuilt have made a lot of discussion and concept art/work on Qagmire (this is where the oblivion gates take you to in their mod for Hammerfell).
Perhaps you'd like to take a look? Theres some really interesting ideas that could be inspiring to you.

That's not a bad idea! :D Someone may pop in and take it up as well! Of course, you could always start your own realm you know. This IS an open community project and anyone of any skill level can create a realm and donate it.

:foodndrink: The more the merrier and it does make a great learning experience and you'll always have help should you need it.

I've started work on mine. :D Right now, after stuttering my way through a CS Wiki tutorial, I managed to build the worldspace! LOL I'm landscaping it at the moment as I started one from scratch rather than copying an existing realm. It's going well, made easier by knowing what I want it to look like in my head. My Ayleid Tile set retexture is finished and entered in the CS. Soon as I get the landscaping how I want it, I'll start on the architecture. It's a bit slow going as I'm tinkering with this, building a village, three more shops for IS's pet shop which I really need to start on, helping Darkrder out with RST and helping in the upgrade for TES Alliance. :lmao: I like to multi-task.

Dont worry too much Red :D, I am currently helping ShadeMe with his loading screens [526 of 'em] and working on a secret project of me own ;)

Well, yes, i have read loads and loads of tutorials. I can make good realms(after experimenting a lot) and i made personal mods for morrowind like a few dungeons and a few new factions. After i switched to oblivion i thought it was hard. But after experimenting and reading it all finally paid off. All im asking is to help and make a realm and show you all i can do it

Of course! You're more than welcome to join up and create a realm. :foodndrink: If you need any help or guidance you can post here or head over to http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/index where we have a modding school and many knowledgeable modders to help you.
We have a WIP thread for ORP there as well. - http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/1384-wipz-the-oblivion-realms-project/

Edit: Thanks Ampolx! Sounds very interesting, we may take you up on that. What kind of new textures?
