Yes all talk about mods here, any games out there.

So my first question is, do you prefer to play vanilla versions of the game or modifications?

Also tell us about your favourite mods out there. Maybe the rest of us will discover them as well.

As for me, I must say that I play more mods, then the vanilla games. I have BF2, but I can't remember last time I actually played it. Now it's all about AIX (2.0) and Point of Existence 2. Alsi no matter how awesome Homeworld 2 is in RTS genre, I still prefer the TFS mod, which "militarises" both factions there. I think I should also give kudos to Supreme commander for their great mod enabler, you just get a list of mods and enable those you want to use.

I must say that creating a mod is a double edged sword in terms of quality. Based on my personal experience in mod creation I can say that the fact that money is not an issue gives you no limits and deadlines, so there is a possibility to use more of the time for greater quality. However it is also the money (or lack there of) that also cripple you in time. Basically you have less time then game developers because you need a job and do this on free time.

So what is your opinions on mods and which ones do you think are the best out there (I do not count Counter Strike, everyone knows it was legendary enough back then to beat both other mods and games in popularity)
