I looked at the man and grinned, "You can call me Andy, no formalities, it doesn't matter. Our next move is to set up camp, actually, can you gather all the other men? It'd be a great help," I said to him, chuckling a bit, but still serious.

Aj landed on his feet with a thud, released the parachute and took a second to get his bearings. First time he had ever done that, luckily he didn't end up like some of the others. He picked up his Austeyr which had slipped off his shoulder just before he landed, checked it over to make sure it wasn't damaged from the fall and started making his way to the rest of the group. Thank god he didn't drop his .22, that certainly wouldn't have survived the fall.

Aj reached the group gathered where the flare was shot off from, and decided to answer Ben's question, "Hey mate, I've been living in the Northern Territory for the past 3 years, beautiful terrain for the buggy. Mate I miss the dirt already, is that where your from?

Matt

I grinned "Sure thing Andy."

I decided it would be easier to announce it rather than talk to each individual.

In a loud voice I yelled "ALRIGHT LADS WE HAVE OUR ORDERS, WE ARE TO SET UP A BASE CAMP HERE, SO LETS HOP TO IT!"

Everyone had heard and began to set up camp.

Luke had been showing off hte raiders sledgehammer and telling the story, emphasing the one liners and the decapitaion in paritcular. He grabbed his swag and went over to the central area were everyone was setting up, he saw Kristensetting up a tent so piched his swag up next to the tent. "Look at all them stars you just dont get them in the southern hemisphere anymore, Anyone remember the last time they saw the Southern Cross? " he shouted this to anyone willing to strike up a conversation, Luke loved hte night sky and could spend hours looking at the different stars whizzing around overhead, he often did.

I sighed, then I pulled out an old map. I looked at where we'd jumped off and I guessed where we'd landed, it seemed to be on the Eastern side of the main river that ran through the town... I looked around and I saw a kind of big building down to our South-West, I thought it looked something like pictures I'd seen... I looked at it closely and I gasped, it was the husk of the Pentagon. I didn't know what to make of it though so I stayed quiet, I pitched up my own tent and I settled inside it for a bit.

I looked out and I yelled out, "Okay guys, you have a day to do whatever you want, their isn't many of us left so be careful, you can explore, kill things, do whatever you want but don't go South-West. That'll be for later, you can go North, North-East and East only, make sure that you return within 24 hours!"

Kristen softly landed, and started to pack up her parachute, she looked around and started to see the others come down, some others werent so lucky, many had hit the ground hard and died, she thought about how to get rid of them, perhaps bury them, she quickly snapped out of it when she noticed the rest of the squad meeting over in a group, she tried to muscle her way through, she wasnt tall enough to see what they were talking about, she pulled out her gun and fired a round in the air giggling as some of the guys grabbed their guns and dropped to their knees looking for enemy fire.

She laughed as she walked right through them running her hands over their shoulders and necks, coming to the centre of the group, they continued their discussion about where they would set up, kristen walked off and started to pitch her tent, over came luke dropping his swag, talking to her about the southern cross, she lent on him, even crouching his head was about chest height on her, she lent on him with her elbow on his shoulder, she looked up at the sky in amazement. She sighed

"Yea, well we might never see the southern cross again. uuuuh. L.. Lu--L?" his name escaped her, she usually made up names for people, so she decided to make up a name for him.

"Big Boy?" she said looking at his face "No... Bluey? Mac? Anzac?" she said noticing his tatt, well then, she said dusting her knees "ill see you later Big boy Zac" she said with a smirk running her hand over his shoulder as she walked back into her tent, before flicking on her lights and undressing, she stopped halfway through and gave luke a sillhouety middle finger.

"[censored] off perv" she said laughing.

" That ones an odd one " Luke mutterd to himself as he started to crawl into his swag, he took his jacket off but left the rest on in case of attack during the night, He looked down at the sledgehammer he had taken off the raider. "What am I going to call you......Tredders, I reckon thats a good name for a hammer." He lay under the stars staring at all the new consolations, it made the big man feel incredibly small. Luke got up and went over to the supply tent and 'borrowed a side of brahmin, Luke chained the side of meat to a broken road sign and started to pummel it, he stayed there for hours until the sun came up. James had gotten the better of him, it wouldnt happen again, Luke was a not a man used to loseing. Luke noticed that he had drawn a little crowd with his training session, this spurred him on and he layed into the meat even harder cracking ribs and leaving pulp like welts on the outside of the cut. " Damn! " Luke cursed himself, there was no way with this crowd he would get away with stealing the brahmin side and it was to damaged to return. After a further twenty minuites Lukes eyes filled with sweat so he stopped, " shows over people, anyone want to take over? " he walked off to towl off and get clean

As he stopped kristen smirked, she put on her brass knuckeles and walked up to the meat strapped to the sign, she started hopping around on the tips of her toes and started punching ferociously, she couldnt nearly match the strength of luke, but she could outplay him for speed a thousand times over, she ducked and weaved as she pulverized some meat, by the time it was over, the meat was almost falling off the bone, she scraqed together some deadwood and lit a fire underneath it.

"Breakfasts up, Boys, just dont expect me to cook for you every morning" she said giggling and walking off taking her knuckes off

She walked past luke who was fondling his hammer before going to the showers, she walked around to him and started walking next to him, she was starting to break a sweat aswell, she talked with him about some minor stuff, small talk really before they reached the shower tents, she looked so small in comparrison to him her head barely up to his shoulders.

As she walked off to the left and him to the right, she thought about him, he looked like someone who was strong, he reminded her of her father, she walked into the seperate showers, it was pretty much just a single shower, seeing as she was the only female in the entire expedition. She laughed at the prospect and listened as the water in the mens shower came on. She started playing with her water, making his go hot and cold. She continued to laugh as she washed herself down with soap.

James

He saw the man he had beaten in the spar smashing some brahmin meat on a sign and he just shook his head, deciding to go out for a walk. He put on his jeans and leather jacket, plus his aviators. He placed his two pistols in his jacket and his Carbine on his back. He started to leave the camp when he saw Luke playing with his hammer.

"Up for a walk Luke? I could use some company" he asked.

" sure mate Im up for it, im hopeing to get a new head fro this hammer though, this ones cracked." Luke got up and started walking with Jack. " This place feels so, angry you know what I mean man?" Luke had once again become overwhelmed by the comlete devestation of such a place. " There are things here worse than back home I can feel it deep down inside the pit of my stomach. What do you think about D.C? " Lukes voice trailed off toward the end of the question as he was lost in the majesty of the wastes.

Aj dropped his gear where he was standing, and sat down on his pack. He loaded his F88 Austeyr, his .22 and made sure he still had bullets in his revolver, for some reason he was never sure that there where bullets in it. After checking his weapons where all clean and ready to go, he put his hunting knife in the sheath strapped to his left leg, holstered his revolver at his hip and put his F88 and .22 side by side on his pack.
He then took off his dirtbike gloves and took a shiny silver harmonica from his pocket, and started playing Blues, fitting music for where they were. And then perhaps, some good old Waltzing Matilda.

Let me try my hand at this. If there are too many characters already, let me know.

Name: Jacinto Dobson

Rank: PFC

Appearance: Six foot, two hundred and thirty pounds, long, dirty blonde hair with large sideburns, and the best looking, manliest beard you've ever seen.

Age: 34

Clothing/armor: Clothing: White, grease stained T-shirt, torn up blue jeans, and black combat boots, laced up past the ankles. Armor: Clothes with a kevlar vest and tactical kneepads, as well as a bandolier full of ammo and fingerless black padded tacticals. Wears a wide brimmed duster hat as well. Side holster for pistol. Geiger counter in another holster.

Weapons: M10 B2 Match chambered with .308 winchester, with a telescopic sight able to zoom in and out. Old webley revolver always loaded.

Personality: Jacinto is a renegade, unable to cope well with others, and the chain of command in general. He is a real bastard when it comes to sympathy. He was sent on this mission into the capital wasteland because his original unit despised him.

(OOC: Accepted, everyone can get a bit of a story in, I gave you a day, so you have it.)
IC:

I sighed, looking at my parent's weapons, I felt a single tear come to my eye as I remembered how they'd cared for me. I looked at their names etched into the metal, I didn't see weapons used to kill people, I saw the last gift my parent's had given to me. I sighed and started cleaning them, I always kept them as spotless as possible, if anything were to happen to them... I shuddered, thinking about what I'd do to get them back. I heard movement outside as some men got their gear together, they had a day to explore, I'd give them that at least.

24 hours to explore on my own? I guess this mission was for me. I decided to head east to the river to investigate the water. It was mostly just rubble on the way, no real standing structures, well accessible ones anyway. After an hour or two, it was hard to tell without a watch, I reached the river. There was no encounters along the way apart from a giant cockroach but it didn't attack. When I reached the river the radiation levels began to pick up the water itself would have been irradiated. There was no way I could get clean water anytime soon. Suddenly this huge crab like creature came from the water.

"[censored]!!!"

The huge crab swung its claw at me I ducked it. It stood on its two legs and had a tiny face protected by a huge shell on its back. I noticed that the legs and face weren't protected well. I pulled out my Sawn-off, the face of the creature was too hard to aim for so I shot its knee out. It made a strange sound I could tell it was pain. The creature continued to come at me although he couldn't move fast so I shot it again this time in the face. It fell dead. I took a moment to regather myself. I could only begin to imagine the crazy creatures they were going to encounter in this place. This was enough exploring for me for one day I decided to head back to cap to retell my story and have a nice sleep.

IC:

I'd been watching everything that'd happened, not much had happened really. But I was in a happy mood so I decided to try something out, I walked out of my tent again, taking my Barret. Someone saluted and I laughed, it was funny that some of these people insisted in being formal. I walked into the middle of the camp and yelled out in a big voice, "Okay lads, I have a challenge for anyone who's interested! I'm going to set up a target 200 metres away and your gonna try and get a bulls eye on it. Best shot get's a prize!"

I then chuckled and measured out the distance, taking the target with me, I set it up and got it right. I then jogged back to camp and took the sniper off my back. I took aim and laughed, it stuffed up my aim for a second but I wanted to show off. While I was still laughing I looked down the sights, through the scope and right at the target. As soon as the dot in the middle went over the centre I pulled the trigger. An ear-splitting bang echoed around us as the 50. Cal bullet rushed towards the target and tore through it. I laughed and turned around, "Who's next!?"

(OOC: You like guys? ok, thanks for sharing! :hehe: , just kiddin)

IC:

Aj stopped in the middle of Maltzing Matilda, put his harmonica in his pocket and stood up.
"Hey cap', could you at least replace the target? there's nothin' left" he said, looking through the scope of his .22, and seeing that the bullet from the .50 CAL had left nothing of the target. He laughed and sat back down to continue playing Waltzing Matilda.

While playing, he thought about going for a stroll himself, maybe he'd find a usable vehicle that they could use to support a mounted patrol. Obviously if there was a vehicle that worked they couldn't all fit in or on it, but a mounted patrol could scout the area and cover a great distance very quickly. So he decided after playing the harp' a bit longer he would make a request to the Captain that if he could find a workable vehicle, that he could use it to scout the local area and scout the direction they would be traveling, just in case they would be heading into an ambush or whatnot.

Jacinto watched AJ through his scope, the reticule directly over his head. He watched the man play, marveling at the speed and wonky grace of a long time harp player. He zoomed in a bit more, and could almost see the blisters on the man's face, the heat bearing down on them both. Jacinto watched him like this for quite some time, licking his lips and twiddling his fingers to stay moving so he did not grow numb. He was almost a quarter mile away, lying prone on a large red rock outcropping. He whispered to himself in humor of the situation.

"Oh Da-a-nny, the pipes, the pipes are ca-a-lling" He sang, hushed. He shifted his arms a little to the left, and the scope moved with them, until the reticule was just over AJ's shoulder. He zoomed in a tiny bit more now, to the maximum telescopic length. The reticule shook a little. Beyond AJ was his target, hovering in the air, stinger unfurled, flying steadily toward the man who was unaware. It was a Bloatwasp.

Jacinto adjusted for height, and squeezed the trigger.

OOC: Think of a bloatwasp as about the same size and shape of a bloatfly, but with a huge stinger and only a melee attack.

"[censored]! Aj dove forward, dropping his harmonica, grabbing his rifle and doing a somersault roll in one swift, quick action, landing in a crouch position, looking around with his rifle ready. He could almost hear the bullet flying through the air quite close to his ear. He couldn't see anyone from any direction who had their gun out, or looked as if they just fired off a shot. Standing up cautiously, he looked around and saw a dead thing on the ground behind his pack. "Holy mother of jesus, what the bloody hell is that? he said to himself as he approached it, he hadn't seen one of these creatures before. He kicked it along the ground to get it away from his gear and then gave it a great boot and it went hurtling through the air away from the camp.

He dusted his Army uniform down to get the dirt off from his roll, and stopped when he ran his hand over the Australian flag patch on his shoulder. He thought about what his mates in the Northern Territory would be doing right now, and he thought about what Kate would be doing. At this time they would all be sitting around having a good laugh.

Franky - Aj's old boss would be chuckling like he did, with a cigar the size of a snag in his mouth. Aj's best mate Perry would be trying to get everyone to play cards with him, bloody little bugger, he always won and took everyone's stuff that they were betting, some say he cheats but hes just that good at reading people and calling our bluff. And Kate, she would probably be reading. The book Aj has with him 'On Patrol with the SAS' was given to him by Kate, she read it about six times until she thought Aj would like it, so he has it now, and only read it about three times so far.

Aj sat back on his pack, lay his rifle next to his F88 and picked up his precious harmonica, and blew the dirt off it. He thought about Kate and his mates back home, smiled and started playing blues.

I chuckled, the morning had turned out quite funnily, I liked that. I sighed and walked back into my tent, I started scrambling through my ammo box, looking for any 50. Cal ammunition. I only found another 40 shots in their cartridges and I sighed, I'd only get another 50 shots then. I disliked that, I jammed all the ammo into my pack and over my body, it wasn't much but it'd help. I already had enough ammo for my M4 so it didn't matter, I looked forlornly at a note that had given to me about the mission.

I walked over to it and looked at the list of conditions to read the information:
1. Land in America
2. Assess the other soldiers
3. Stay alive!

I grunted, I'd done everything necessary. I opened it up and read the contents, I felt my hand go stiff and as soon as I'd finished reading the whole thing I dropped it to the ground. I shuddered and I looked outside the tent, from what little info we had this was going to be suicide. I sat down in my chair, I tried to regain my breath, I managed to get it back in ragged gasps. I picked up my weapons and started cleaning them, but I was still edgy. I'd have to read out the note to them tomorrow...

James

James and Luke were gearing up to go when he heard the shot, and saw the dead creature. He was amazed when he saw the man sit back down and continue playing his instrument, without looking for the shooter.

"Luke, wait here, I'm going to look for that shooter" he commanded.

He walked out of the camp with his M4 in his hand and walked towards where he thought he saw a muzzle flash. He stayed low and in cover so it was impossible for the shooter to see him.

Once he had climbed the rocky outcrop he saw a man lying down and watching the camp through a sniper. He smiled, walked over and placed his pistol to the back of the snipers head.

"Get up" he commanded. The sniper wasn't moving fast enough for his liking so he smacked him in the back of the head and dragged his unconscious body back to camp, heading towards Andy.

"I got you a present" he laughed.

I looked up and I saw that James was dragging a man, he lifted him up a bit and I gasped. I managed to sputter out, "James, that's Jacinto! He's one of our men!" He looked startled but I chuckled, "Oh well, serves him right for not looking, should teach him a lesson. Good work, but look to see if it's an enemy or not next time!" I then dropped my voice, "Get him out of the tent and come back in, please," As he took him out I quickly checked over my notes, I was going to tell James about the plan.

James

Why the hell was one of our men shooting at us? Maybe he was just shooting at the insect, who knows. It didn't matter now.

He dragged the man back outside and engraved 'Sorry' into the ground next to him before heading back in.

"Whats up mate?"

Aj watched James dragging a guy around in the dirt, it was pretty funny, its not exactly something you would see often. He decided it was about time to go for a walk and have a look around the local area, maybe find a vehicle. He stood up, put his harmonica in his shirt pocket where he kept it close to his heart, picked up his .22 and F88, he was going to carry his F88 to scout out the area but he never ever parted with his winchester .22 so he slung that over his shoulder and held the F88. He left his pack where it was, it would be dumb lugging it around for no reason. He flicked the firing mode switch on the side of the F88 to burst and headed out of the camp.
