so is the old group all gone?

I think all the "ancient" TES gamers should join to voice their vision of the serie where people discuss on its future, like the TES general discussion. Talking here about DF or Arena is nice, but the experienced TES gamers should speak about those games legacy where we are looking for their future. The serie has a past, an history, made of both the games themself and the fans who gave life to this active community. I wouldn't want to see both forgoten and replaced by fanboyish teenagers thinking that TES started with the "antique" MW, and to see a TES V mainstreamed from the Oblivion base.

oh ho, but I remember you, you had the sticky post with all the game demos, I always remembered you said "there is no battlespire demo, but if you can prove me wrong, you'll get a trophy" or something along those lines. I always thought that was funny.

yeah, that was probably the highlight of my forum contributions

besides that, I'm bumping this old topic to inform you about Dragonnnnn, who passed away in july of this year.

Rest In Peace, Don

I'm still here, and so is my very outdated guide to running Daggerfall linked in my sig haha. Really should think about updating that some time :P Of course my guide was beat out by it's competition in the sticky. I still think that's a little unfair, using their moderator powers to make their guide more popular >;)

Sorry about Dragonnn, although I can't say I miss his constant smarmy peeler talk. I think he was one of the core reasons the rules had to be so strict here once moderation started. The guy had no semblance of appropriate behavior.

Anyone heard from Captain Eldrad? He popped in the chatroom last year but that's all I've seen of him.

Freddo is a noob!

Hi Arhcie.

Yes is this is me I foolishly had new password sent to an old defect email address so my old account is dead . I found this page via google hope you don't mind this bump. I just heard the Dragonnnn died. :( Man he looked older than 45. Anyone know how he died?

I remember you people somewhat. I still hate Jim Jeffords and Howard Dean Omni. ;) And Sanders and Peter Welch. And the dem who stole the state treasurer's race from a black Republican in 2006.

I wonder if any of the euro-rpg crowd is still around. People weren't posting anymore so I just left, then came back months later and made one post and never returned. Then they changed to some French thing and appear to be gone. It was good times there, and here in the olden days.

With the juicy Dem cluster going on in Illinois nowadays, I'm amazed you're focused enough to carry a torch for something that happened in 2006. Anyway, I can't imagine what election you might be referring to. Christine Radogno is as white as a North Dakota bride and Giannoulias thumped her by over 10 percentage points.

But hang out here anyway, it's still good times (especially if you like DOSBox questions).

Interkarma only pops in rarely to give an update on the whatever remake they're working on that will never come to fruition.

what is he doing nowadays? i was a long standing member of his forums (i had either the name Talin_Trollbane or just Talin back then if i recall correctly).

and as the others above, my Redguard has a torched map and cardboard case.

Frosty is here, I've seen him. Oh, and I haven't been here as long as you, but I have played the game just as long, so whats with the disclusion? Some of us are good people! But most are ignorant nugamers.. :sigh: . Anyways, nice to meet you, and I hope to see you here again. :)

P.S.: The forums pretty much svck now. Completely crowded with imbusiles and pricks. I'm probably included in one of those categories, but oh well.

If you're gonna call people stupid, at least spell it right.

EDIT: wait, did I just perply to a guy who was here over a year ago?

ah the past game forum. this had always been my favorite section on the TES forums. when i first joined back in '02, we all had a blast for a long time, until arena was released for free, ever since, there had been a never ending slew of 0Mg R37E4SE D4GG3Rf4L1 4 FreE! and i left after a while, because the forum just wasnt fun anymore. posts used to be awesome, with game strategies, new (old) glitches, places to explore of interest, questions we had of playing the game for years, redguard walkthroughs, discussions of playing battlespire online, finding the elusive betony demo, and finding the missing Arch3d.bsa file (boy how i still remember that). I still feel proud that im the one that uploaded it onto 3dgamers, or one of those sites.

back from 02-05, when i was active in these forums, this place rocked, but now most the threads are just on the games getting to work. so what happened to all the members of old? interkarma's site is down, i imagine the daggerfall remake didnt work out, but did all the old members die off like me? or did they go to another site? I'm talking about the OLD members, interkarma, tameos, darkmouse, rabish12, frostytheozzie, those are just a few of the names I can remember. anyone still here that remembers me? you know, people from way back when the only stickied post was where to find the demos, and coes would give a trophy to whoever found a battlespire demo

I'll try and stick around more, this time. this place is still pretty fun.

so enough reminiscing. I have a question!

how many people out there with redguard have a first edition copy? one with the burned map? Im asking if your CDs came with a CD case, or if they were just in white paper CD holders? because mine were in the latter, but when i found a 2nd edition, they were in the former.

To the former, I'm still around, though focused on Fallout 3 at the moment. I've done a bit over at the UESP wiki, but don't do much with DF these days.

To the latter, the CDs in the 1st Ed. came in a cardboard (pasteboard?) holder. I don't know about the stuff from the later releases.

Cheers!

Are you still a moderator here ? I hope they're paying you. ;)

Ah it was a good group, something special, at Euro-rpg and here back in the day. Glad to see other people remember all the fun nonsense.

Vermont. I directing it at this guy Omnisca from Vermont who said he didn't like it when I attacked Vermont pols. But he hasn't posted since 2007 so he's obviously not gonna see it.

Yeah Ive talked to Rabish12 quite a few times - and Ive known about Daggerfall ever since it came out, but I didnt play it when I was that young except once, and it kept crashing on me b/c of low RAM or something, I forget. But I have all the TES Games, well the Main ones anyway. I just wish that great conversations strike up again, and I wish we could read the very old posts instead of them dissipating into thin air when the thread goes only so far :(

He has been very busy with real life things in the past few years but he's still working on his remake occasionally.

N^G's Euro-RPG.com was tranformed into Total-RPG.com, and that website was killed by hackers.

The old hidden forums were great. I remember once we were visited by some people who had discovered this software quirk elsewhere, and they were quite surprised to encounter active discussions in those forums. Apparently they'd register at UBB forums, spam up the hidden forums, and then enter the public areas with enormous post counts, to everyone's confusion. :)

we had a member called 'Bill Gates' who made a kazillion posts in those hidden forums. Also made some topics 'collapse', as you mentioned.

Silver Dragon told me it later moved to a French site with an obnoxiously long URL, but the link was broken from the get go.

The thread collapses were far more entertaining before people started doing them intentionally :(

I still remember the first time it happened here, what a weird thread that turned in to!

You know there are also people who didn't have internet before Morrowind was out :/ No walkthroughs for Daggerfall, no anything. No even idea about these forums. :)

Now, I actually might be able to play Battlespire online, but only very occasionally. I don't think I ever manage to do it actually :/
Hehe, yeah. I didn't have the internet until 2003 when I went to college.

This is the spirit of TES right here. I've read every one of these posts and I sincerely wish that I wasn't seven when all the old TES game came out. My first was Morrowind and it just blew me away.... even without Mods. But this thread should be re-named the spirit of TES. Also, all the people that are around today aren't half bad! Just a lot of ignorance blotting out the "real" TES fans.

Yeah. I very much regret that I was just a lurker/one or two time poster in the early days of this forum. When I look back now, the two years between the founding of the forums and the release of Morrowind was just about the most exciting time to be a TES fan. Bethesda had been quiet since Redguard came out, and I know my own circle of friends was pretty convinced that we would never see Morrowind. Then the announcement came and there were years of eager speculation about Morrowind and reminiscing about Daggerfall. Even the developers were around constantly, just as excited about the game as we were. Other than the Redguard forums and the old Bethesda BBS, I think May of 2000 was the first chance longtime ES fans really got to meet and talk to one another. It was definitely one of the shining moments of TES fandom.
