I remember the old TESV Speculation threads, before Skyrim was even announced (stuff of legends). That was a really fun time i think, and it all built up to a really great moment when Skyrim was finally announced at the VGA's.

Thing is, a lot of those people have seemed to have just, dissapeared. I can remember at least half a dozen regular contributers to that thread that have slipped away :/

Fun times.

The Skyrim forums are like a big, loud frat party.  :verymad: :unsure2: :flamed: :flamethrower: Most of it is just noise, and situations happen fast. Fights break out all the time, people slight one another, etc. There are pockets of people there who are nicer than the usual frat party goers, but depending on the thread, they're usually a minority.

Used to be like that here in the Oblivion forum when it first opened up. We had a lot of members of the youthful cheerleading squad who were rude above all to anybody who wanted to discuss fixing game bugs and improving game issues, though not neglecting punching, slapping, and biting one another during the rest of the time. Eventually, they moved on to the next Bestest Game Forever, and things settled down to become much like the Morrowind forum, which had never been very bad.

I expect the Skyrim forums to mellow out in a few months, with the appearance of new games, and the CS. But it's going to be a bit like watching a Beavis and Butthead Marathon in there for a while, yet.

haha i wish, the threads in the skyrim forum are all fairly lame, seems like they're all about how mages svck, how easy the master difficulty is with legendary armor/weapons glitch, how bethesda supposedly svcks, Also everyone took an arrow to the knee and it totally changed their way of life

The thread i really miss was the where are you now, really liked reading about some of the stories off of them. Wish there was a thread like that on the skyrim fourm...then everyone would know the story of crwth (vowels are for milk drinkers) the barbarian lol

Dear lords, I can't believe you said that! The most obnoxious Bethesda forum I've ever posted in was the Morrowind General Discussion forum, circa May - November, 2002. The loathing, the bile and rancor directed at Morrowind by the leftover rank and file of militant Daggerfall zealots came very close to poisoning my love for Morrowind. It dwarfed anything I read in the Oblivion forums as far as I'm concerned. To this day I have a kind of grudge against Daggerfall - it's probably very similar to the one Oblivion fans feel about Morrowind - because of months of reading the incessant rantings of 'Daggerfall fundamentalists.'

Fewer in number, those complaints. They were nasty, but overall, there were a lot less people doing an imitation of Moe, Larry and Curly--and the outrage was dealt with pretty quickly, if I remember correctly. Whereas with Oblivion and Skyrim, the anger came from zealous cheerleaders instead of angry trolls, and gamesas has correspondingly gone a lot easier on them.

There is one! http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1291304-where-are-you-now/
I have it bookmarked, because good luck finding it again.

It is hard to find a tread worth reading much less posting in over there though.

Exactly how I feel about Morrowind.

If you want to see all the old guys again, post more questions/threads. Allowing these beloved people to answer you.

And everything in the Skyrim forum is too fast. After one minute there are a dozen posts.

Sounds like this is where the Imperial Legion omniscient powers would come in handy for once. Imbue the BGS forum moderates with them, "Stop right there, CRIMINAL SCUM!" I just wonder which three choices the trolls would get? :D

I have heard the Skyrim forum is quite unpleasant as everyone bash each other and their opinions which is truly a shame :shakehead:

Yea they are hell right now, I poke my head in there very now and then but I try to avoid it.

I enjoy popping back in here form time to time as well to see how things are going.

Fourthly, there are a ton of older games I have not yet played, which I can buy for far less than their original cost. Older games have generally been patched to fix their worse bugs (let's face it; they all have 'em.) Example: I just recently completed a play-through of Two Worlds, which I had bought from GOG.com for less than ten bucks. It's not Oblivion, and the dialog is laughable, but the main quest is actually an engaging, fun story, and the world is big and open. It has enough replayability to make it more than worth the price I paid. I would never have bought that game, at full price, when it was released.

Do you really mean the first Two Worlds or Two Worlds II? I thought the first was terrible but I am optmistic about the sequel as it got decent reviews.

Ah it's not too bad up there. Seen a lot worse. I'm giving Oblivion a break since the old computer got enough of a boost to play Skyrim comfortably. Bonus is I get to use those nice texture replacers when I do come back to it. I pop my head in the cheats & hints and the hardware & software sections of Skyrim from time to time.

Skyrim is amazing but I'm starting to feel burnt out after 70 or so hours on a single character. I've played Oblivion for well over a thousand with more characters than I have hairs on my head. Oblivion has much more of a lasting appeal to me, though Skyrim is great too.

I'm feeling a bit burnt out too. I think it's because I wanted to do everything too quickly instead of taking my time. I can take my time in Oblivion because I'm familiar with the world, but in Skyrim I'm suffering from the "omgzzzz I have to do everything" mentality.

I'm feeling overwhelmed. every time I think I'm getting burnt of Skyrim i will find a new place to explore or get into an epic battle with like 10 undead draugrs. I LOVE those adrenaline rushes! I always have to see what's gonna happen next. I actually havn't finished any big quests yet in Sky, just some of miscellaneous ones.

But I feel torn, too. Like today, it's raining. I'm home sick from work, my kid's off to school, and I really wanna start a new character, yet I'm very immersed in Thor's game, but I also wanna get back with Kate, especially since Thor doesn't use magic, and I'm missing magic.

maybe I'll do a hopscotch. I'm with Thor the fighter now, he's about to leave this barrow he's in. Then I'll jump to either Kate or Lady Saga. then I'll start Claire Voyance.

Well from my point of view, I like to find the jewels that each TES games have to offer. After putting 250 hrs in Skyrim, I think it is up there with my favs. Oh how I miss the days of Morrowind, when the entire universe of TES was totally alien and new. I have been playing Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim equally since Sky came out... I don't think I could ever just put away any of those games, and focus on one only...

Oh yes, from my experience of reading up on this forum, the Oblivion oldie's seem more mature and lax about TES... Maybe it's because the old poster's are "older" in RL? I dunno.

Ahh, makes sense. Maybe once all of the hardcoe power gamers have bled Skyrim dry, new "oldies" will emerge.

Not to stereotype anyone in the Sky forum... :whistling:

Speak for yourself. I'm sixty-mumble, and would stay up all night playing a game, but I still complain every time I have to take out the garbage.

The Skyrim forum is horrible, whining, complaining and rudeness.

 However, I remember the days when they Oblivion forum was just the same and most of us "Old Timer's" hid in the Morrowind Forums for the very same reason. :P
