the old guys :O

I won't be there for a bit either. I started out not buying it, thinking it would be all glitch-ridden like NV when it first came out. I learned that it wasn't all too buggy, and after the patches there are very few issues to speak of (for consoles at least). But now, I really don't know why I'm not buying it. I know for a fact that I'm getting it soon, but for some weird reason, all the anticipation that built up completely diffused on 11/11/11 and now I don't even feel like getting it all that much. It's more of an obligation than anything else.

I don't know if anyone remembers me here, but I was pretty active throughout '10 and '11 up until a few months ago. Won't be seeing the Skryim section for several months though. At least until the filth clears out and goes back to MW3. Maybe even after that. I don't want to go there, because either I'll ask someone for help (which I don't like doing, since I prefer to solve things on my own) or I'll get involved in a discussion which I won't be fully able to participate in unless I have complete knowledge of all aspects of the game, meaning done all quests, sidequests, read a significant amount of books, done a great deal of exploring, experience all types of classes, etc.

By '12 I'll most probably be popping in every now and then though. :)

Well, I hate to say it but some of you may call me a traitor. I went and done it... I... I bought... Fallout 3: GotY edition :sadvaultboy: [/sarcasm] :celebration: So you may see me over in Fallout 3 forums a little more often in a couple of months (once I play it for myself).

why do games have deadlines :/ they should be released when they're done

Unfortunately, I think it's the managers that look at operating costs and the longer their company spends on making a game, all the manager likely sees is that those expenses keep increasing.
An example would be Duke Nukem Forvever, because it took... well, forever to complete (7 years+?). Imagine how much that studio's total bills racked up before they had a chance to start turning out profits, if it does turn out profits that is.

Count me in on the treason too. I bought FO3 about a year ago. Lots of fun, and the engine runs much better then Oblivion. Just watch out for http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3084.jpg

Yea, I remember you. I'm still here, too. :wavey: you were gonna help me with that contest last year (spookiest PC or whatver) but things got complicated for me in R/L. Anyways, good to see you back.

Terra Nova, do you mean Floydian1? I thought his screenshots featuring Sia were the most amazing Oblvion screenshots I have ever seen. They were almost a kind of machinima/graphic novel. So dramatic.

Well, a toothbrush is about as effective as a rocket launcher against them! But at least you might not get an infection from the germs on their teeth when they rip you in half. I prefer using nukes on them.

One of my FO3 characters (an admittedly strange one) managed to take one of them down using only a weapon made from one of their claws... ...Yeah, I'm another one who has saved Megaton, swum the radioactive waters of the Potomac, and earned the Ghoul Mask. :)

I know the feeling buddy it happened to me, all I could think about the week before it's release was skyrim, skyrim, skyrim, I've even spoiled it a bit by visiting the skyrim forums too much.

But thats human nature unfortunately, we always want what we can't have, now it's there on the shelf it loses part of it's attractiveness, a bit like a girlfriend or was that a bit harsh? :P jk

Yes, it was. Of course, if she thinks the same way about you, what does that say about the two of you? :D

Floydian's work for Oblivion was exceptional. Most of it seems gone from TES Nexus, which is unfortunate, though I've got some of it on my harddrive.

seriousley...ive noticed very few of the orginal OB forum members have had anything to do with skyrim...its a damn shame because i always enjoyed your insights into things, and howyou where always polite and helpfull,

have all of you decided to play OB forever, or am i missing all of you?

skyrim forums just arnt the same....

so why arnt you guys there ?

Do I count? I've been posting since Oblivion was released.

And I have been visiting Skyrim General and posting there. Still trying not to be spoiled, so avoiding Cheats Hints and Spoilers. I have the huge Official Skyrim game guide and have barely peeked at it. I'm trying to do quests and dungeon crawls without spoilers.

I have not been posting much recently in the Oblivion forums only because there is not much going on in these forums.

In contrast, Skyrim forums are amazingly active. Not necessarily good in my opinion. Lots and lots of threads about the game not being "balanced" when playing at the hardest difficulty level, etc. Really? The game is not supposed to be balanced for max difficulty, IMHO.

Still although I haven't spent a huge amount of time with the game, Skyrim is amazing, I think.

But it's still nice to have Oblivion to go home too.

I've noticed quite a few spoilers in The General Area as well, another reason I haven't spent much time over there.

Most of the time you can tell from the titles. But few creep into the posts.

I ran into a big spoiler for a side quest yesterday in a seemingly safe thread. Fortunately it was a side quest I just completed and so I wasn't spoiled.

But the Skyrim forums can be a dangerous place.

I′m so glad I wasn′t aware of this forum when I was an Oblivion noob. Knowing things in advance ruins the very reason for me to ever play a game; to explore and find out on my own.

The only reason I had to join this forum was because of the A-bomb. I almost killed my computer in frustration simply beacuse I didn′t even know why it had happened or how to get rid of it! After having met many great people here I can say it was a blessing in disguise :foodndrink:

I agree. I barely even visit there anymore in-person, except to vote on polls and provide an occasional opionion (which nobody reads since threads typically only exist a half a hour before they're off the front page) I do lurk the Sky forums quite a bit, though, and would agree you can mostly tell where the spoilers are by reading the titles.

Wow, that is a blessing in disguise. I think I joined IGN first trying to look for Oblivion discussion, but they re-did their website and it wouldn't load onto my cheap room computer without crashing alll the time. :brokencomputer: And then one day I found Bethesda has official forums, and here I am.

My first thread, I nearly got flamed! I'm not sure if I was Renee Gade II or using some other name, but I started a thread about Casta Scribonia and what's the deal with her fabled "Woman Gone Wild" book, and immediately somebody called me a troll. :( Not a good introduction here, but I survived.

I'm fairly new around here in terms of when I actually joined, but I feel like I've been around for years simply because of how warmly welcomed I was. I didn't know about the forum when I was new to Oblivion either, and I can't even remember why I joined here in the first place, but I'm glad I did.
I remember gently easing myself into some discussions and then being really nervous about posting my very own thread and wondering if I'd get replies. I was delighted that other people loved talking about their characters as much as I loved talking about mine. :hugs:

EDIT- I apparently joined exactly 6 months ago today, how incredible is that?!

That's the thing, too. It seems like you've been here a long time. Funny how that works out.

pretty cool Lady Mara.

I tried searching out my first thread by putting "Casta" into the advanced search, but it didn't come up. I know these forums get purged every so often; chances are it fell victim to this. <_<

Heh, I remember my first thread. It was to ask if I could poison an enchanted weapon just like a normal weapon. The gracious and wise geckoman came on and not only patiently answered my dumb question, but welcomed me to the forum. I've never forgotten the kindness displayed to me by some of the ancients, whose names range from Leydenne to Shadowhider.
