Am I the Oldest git playing skyrim?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 5:31 am

26 here. But whoa whoa, does this mean my addiction won't lessen the older I get? That could get problematic, damn.

... and now I'm having an image of me and my small group of lan party friends (half-)yearly playing games against each other even at the ripe age of 70. xD Once a nerd, always a nerd I guess.

I am 23.. nearly 24, and i seriously hate it :P i feel like the years just fly by now. BUT having read this thread and seeing many of you making me seem like a wee baby, i suddenly feel a tad better about my coming birthday.

It's true. I was your age yesterday (or so it seems), today I'm nearly twice that. Tomorrow I'll be getting my telegram from the Queen.

Good for you mate! a man should distract himself from time to time with a good game

I'm almost 33 and I love TES games, IL-2 1946, ArmA series (since Flashpoint + tons of mods), Mount and Blade: Warband, Neverwinter Nights series, Medal of Honor - Call of Duty - Battlefield series (with mods) & Rainbow Six series oh and also World of Tanks

40 years young here. When I was standing in line for the midnight release, I was quite amazed at the age range. Sure, a little more than half of the people in-line were in their 20's, but there were quite a few older die hards like myself. I just wish there was more time in the day to play the game. Having responsibilities can svck sometimes

At 53, many have me beat by a few (or many) years, but I'm going on 15 years with the Elder Scrolls and about twice that with games in general. Yes, I vividly remember the cassette tapes with the "Trash 80", 8-inch floppies and being ecstatic at having 64K of RAM.

I'm "only" 43. ;)
As long as there are games being made that I want to play, I will be playing. Some people like to watch tons of films, some people like to build dollhouses, some like to crochet, some like to make music. I like to game.

Hubby isn't a big gamer/is often too busy with work & other hobbies, but in winter around the holidays he plays a few...he's 45. I'm hoping when we're retired we'll be two old geezers sitting on the couch gaming away on our cool, futuristic, 3D, room-wrapping screened system. lol

I'm in my 30's. It's nice to see others here.

There's a misconception that says, 'Boomers invented video games, and Generation X is perfecting them, but only Millenials play them'.

That's a load of poop. We all play them, and have every right to, despite what narrow-minded technophobes would have you think. :mohawk:

Hey either your only as young as you feel, or like charlie sheen would say your as young as the women you feel.

eh... i think the law may have a problem with that, depending on how young you plan on feeling.

Interesting topic. I'm 50 years old and started playing PC games around 1994, just when Arena first hit the market. I was 33 at the time and have been gaming ever since.

It's perfectly understandable to see gamers today in their 40's and 50's, because they would probably have been in their 20's or 30's when gaming first took off properly into the mainstream. It is somwhat more unusual to see gamers beyond their 60's though, because there is a tendancy within society that once you reach a certain age, you are less likely to be attracted to new technologies that generally appeal to the younger generations - but it is great to see, nevertheless!

That's most likely due to folks being hard-nosed traditionalists opposed to any change more than anything. I hold that opinion because I hail from the north eastern United States, where stereotypes such as this are commonplace.(Amoung many others)..I contemptuously refer to these folks as relics, because they do more harm to the younger generation by passing on their antiquated http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/prejudice which is why I personally hold the belief that if you cannot adapt, or accept the present, you contribute by preparing the young for the future because you're still living for/in the past...Which is long dead and buried as only a fond memory.

*BTW, I know you know the definition, but others mis-use it and it has transformed into slang over the years..

Am 38... my first experience of gaming came at the age of 7 on the Atari 2600 with titles such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jungle Hunt, ET - those were the days :D

Adventure and RPG games were always my favourite. I loved those choose your own destiny books, like the FF series.

From there I moved on to the Sinclair Spectrum 48, then Atari ST, and finally on to the PC. I have an Xbox360 too, but prefer the PC for gaming. Within the past six months have purchased Skyrim, Rage, DX3, DA2 and Stalker COP. Don't imagine I'll ever stop gaming - sometimes I wonder should I grow up so its good to know there are 60 year olds out there who love it as well!

Man and I was starting to feel old since I turn 25 in 6 days. If anyone gives me crap about still playing video games I'll just send them a link to this thread, and go back to playing Skyrim.

I'm surprised by how many uhhh seasoned(?) vets are on these forums. I'm only 18 myself, but I suppose a game with a long history like this would appeal to the elder crowd.....
And here I thought I scored a victory by getting my grandfather to play Wii Sports.............
