The one bug that keeps coming back

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:42 pm

There has been a shift key bug that has been in every single game that uses that clunky, old, gambryo engine.

Morrowind: Run becomes walk.

Oblivion: Run becomes walk.

Fallout 3: Run becomes walk.

Fallout New vegas: Run becomes walk.

Skyrim: Run becomes walk!

Fallout 4 will have it too. you know it will. and that's just one bug that persists. there are so many more. do you think they will ever get rid of those bugs finally?

^What he said.....

Holding shift is SUPPOSED to cause you to start walking.

Yeah, and pressing the space bar makes the graphics all go tilt downwards for a second in an odd way, like ... I don't know ... jumping?

No, the one repeat bug is going to be the loot bug.

I remap the other keys to I hardly remember what is default.

I think the OP wants it to change from Walk to Run and not Run to Walk.

When it's been in this long, it's not a bug, it's a feature.

I think he may be referring to the problem where sometimes Shift is Walk and sometimes Shift is Run.

If you have the 'always run' setting on (I believe caps lock is the default key for toggling this), then shift becomes walk instead of run. With the setting off, shift becomes run instead of walk.

This is ... not difficult to understand.

Sometimes Caps Lock is "always run." Sometimes Caps Lock is "always walk." I often do not know which function is the current one until I move.

I wonder if their "full physical based rendering" will impact this at all.

In Skyrim holding shift causes you to walk unless you hit "Caps Lock" once during normal gameplay. In Morrowind and Oblivion, holding shift causes running unless you hit the "Caps Lock" key once during normal gameplay. Personally I prefer holding shift to run and then normal movement is walking, but it's really not a big deal which is the default so long as you can still switch between the two. I think they offer the toggle for the sake of convenience in case you don't want to have to hold shift all the time whenever you want to move at a certain speed on mouse-and-keyboard controls.

I always play with the caps lock set to 'always walk', but I have to hit the caps lock key whenever I start the game because it flips to 'always run'.

Thought this was going to be the rain still going through roofs, somewhat disappointed that it's not. Hope that bug too is gone.

The only thing about caps lock toggle that annoys me is that when I'm done playing it usually turns out Caps is on when I go to type something. That's such a ridiculously minor inconvenience, though.

On rain going through roofs; that's a consequence of how Bethesda's precipitation shader works. In the past it was negligible, since there weren't a ton of cases where you were still indoors in an exterior zone; but with the dynamic settlements in this game and the more open-buildings, I really hope they did change precipitation.
