So they execute that one guy before you, then you get called over, get to the block ... and kneel on the guy's corpse because no one moves his body away first.

lol, they were going to get around to moving it later. I think they were just getting a pile of bodies started.
Yeeeah, somehow I don't feel the Imperials are sympathetic enough towards a dead man walking to move a body away.
I'm more worried about where my head is going, than I am about my knees...
They're effectively murdering you, since you're not on the list but they're killing you anyway. You think they're gonna care if you have to kneel on a corpse?
doesn't someone push his body over with their foot? Or am I mixing that up with the other execution?
No, they do push the body away with their foot, although game physics does not allow for much pushing.
I can still remember the one time I started a new character and the basket beneath the head didn't appear in the game, so when the person got executed before me his head hit the ground and then started rolling around in a huge looping circle on the ground. Round and round it rolled, between the people's legs and back out again.
Needless to say my character was screaming by the time they pushed him forward to the block. Lol.
Soft and squishy! A fine kneeling pad indeed.
The thing that bothers me most about that whole scene is the Captain turning and saying, "Does anyone else feel like running?" before Lokir's body even settles to the ground.
That's what bothers you? You're a dead man, it doesn't matter how uncomfortable you feel having a random decapitated body right next to you.
What bothers me is that they didn't kill Ulfric first, I always figured that would make the most sense, but no. First it's some random dude and then a random dude who crossed the border. I mean, that's just stupid.
Confidence....

'Maybe they wanted him to see his men dying?Apart from that plot armor.
They want to go with the common theme starting imprisoned, or trapped I assumed in every Elder Scrolls game.
Arena - Imprisoned in an Imperial Dungeon
Daggerfall - Trapped in Privateer's Hold
Morrowind - Prisoner - Imperial Transfer
Oblivion - Imperial Dungeon again
Skyrim - Imperial Prisoner... again.
