The one thing that makes Skyrim better than Oblivion

Post » Mon Oct 18, 2010 2:39 pm

At least for me, and what I know so far, my favorite change/addition is the fact that there will be more of a variety of voice actors.

I assume you are a young one , since I don't care that much for voice acting I prefer a game of hours of fun even without voice acting than a game with much voice acting but with little gamplay ...

Even for that matter I still play Morrowind with limited voice acting and pretty much the seem, but still the topic's I can open in Morrowind are plenty more than Mudcrabs and Deadra on the Road in Oblivion ...

I care a lot about voice acting, and even knowing it is responsible for the diminished content in Oblivion, I still think it was a necessary "evil". It just had to be done sooner or later, text based games in the 2000's simply svck. I hope the next consoles will handle as many discs as required to have both content and voices.

Right now we have a ton of people who bash oblivion and claim that morrowind is far, far, far better than oblivion. I wonder if now we will have people who will say that skyrim is sh*t because it is too different from oblivion.

I'd say that nothing could be worst than Oblivion but then Arcania has set a new low , some will argue that DA2 is even worst but i havn't played it to comment.
Maybe not as atrocious level scaling can be the one and only thing .

For me the dialogue in real time makes Skyrim 100 times better. I'm also pretty sure the combat, the a.I., the leveling without major skills will be much better.

Or you can just turn dialogue volume all the way down, while the rest of us enjoy the voice acting?

Prettier NPCs! Not everyone is ugly, this time around. I'm so happy. Everyone in Oblivion looked bloated.

if i had to pick the major thing for me at least, its that they have more dungeon designers and supposedly the world has more varied topography. i pick that because it takes along time for mods like Unique Landscapes for oblivion to get completed. level scaling is actually the biggest issue for me, but thats fairly easy to fix with mods so even if they do screw it up (which it doesnt sound like they have) it would be fixed within a week or two.

there are so many good changes though that its a really hard choice.

@Estonian..........i seriously doubt that will happen. if anything you will hear bemoaning that it isnt as good as morrowind or daggerfall. oblivion has not garnered the loyalty and fanaticism that the previous games had even though far more people have played oblivion. i like to compare morrowind and oblivion to Deus Ex and Deus EX IW. its not the best comparison i know but its adequate to show the point. Deus Ex IW was a fairly good game if not taken as a sequel. like oblivion it had its major flaws. IW had a horrible engine and animations were.........well WOW awful. it was still a playable game and i finished it twice myself. when you compared IW to the original Deus Ex however it fell far short of expectations. oblivion is like that in regards to morrowind.

What? Really? You are easy to please. There is a multitude of things that make it better, but my favourite is the setting.

I just started playing Oblivion again and simply loathe the voice actors in game, even started
giggling repeatedly at the feeling of low-budget over it, particular in comparison with games
like Dragon Age, Mass effect and Witcher. So yes, lets wait and see if they have improved
the voice-acting, it would be disastrous if they havent lol...
