The one thing that makes Skyrim better than Oblivion

At least for me, and what I know so far, my favorite change/addition is the fact that there will be more of a variety of voice actors.

Oh Kynareth, don't let this dissolve into an Oblivion bashing thread...

I'm hoping everything will be improved though.

There will be better things, and there will be worse.

It's inevitable, but here's to hoping the good will outweigh the bad ;)

Don't forget, Skyrim will have its own problems. Don't lose sight of the truth in the hype - but it'll still be damn awesome, and possibly the best game yet.

Of all the things that could possibly care about being improved from Oblivion, voice-acting is pretty far down the list.

Granted, being able to hire enough people for every single one of the hundreds of NPCs present in Skyrim to have their own voice would be awesome, but all that money would be far, far better spent on hiring more programmers, designers, and animators, so that we don't end up with stuff like random dungeons again. I'll gladly put up with over a 1,000 NPCs all being voiced by the security guy at the Bethesda office for the joy of a game where every single last object has been painstakingly put together by a real person. And with open cities.

For starters. I LOVE Oblivion.

What I expect to be better is the technical progression along with the dialogue and stories. There was a big progression from Morrowind to Oblivion and there will be another big progression from Oblivion to Skyrim. I've never fought dragons and I'm glad they waited until now to put them in a TES game because from the trailer, it looks like it's going to be great to battle with them. :)

Skyrim I feel pretty much is an improvement over Oblivion in of itself.

The one thing that makes skyrim better for me is the atmosphere,Oblivion had a lack of it.hardly any outside noise's,melee combat was wacky, guards that knew all and see all, loot in chests felt stale, there was no point to breaking into homes because half the stuff u stole was useless and worth prob 2 gold. But i still like playing oblivion its prob one of the only rpgs thats been out for the last 5 yrs thats worth playing.Dragon age 1 and 2, fable2 and 3,two worlds 2,,,etc svcked.once i get a new laptop i need to get dos box and play my self some witchhaven, daggerfall, and re-instale neverwinter knights ,diablo2. man the last few years single player rpgs really took a hit.ok im done ranting. :ninja:

The overall Aesthetic of it for sure. The world has a lot more contrast Instead of the amalgam of green that Was Oblivion, as pretty as it was, you need to reset yourself with contrast every so often, like Morrowind did with the Ashlands/Ascadian Isles/Grazelands. There was a little contrast in Oblivion, but the design of the game didn't get you around enough to appreciate it.

That's the only thing I can really say for certain, just off screenshots and the trailer. The rest is just more Hopeful stuff.

Honestly, there is nothing that springs to mind as being a drastic improvement which will make Skyrim a better game than Oblivion. There are a number of slight improvements here and there (and also a few things which are worse), but nothing (yet) to convince me that it will surpass Oblivion.

The land of Skyrim itself. Also throw in shouts, dual wielding, new dialogue system, more diverse environments and we have ourselves a winner.

I think dual wielding will be the coolest thing, I remember playing bioshock 2 and saying that it would be awesome if ES had this type of system, that was when I was torching a big daddy and firing the machine gun at the same time

 For me this will make the game worse. I hate voice acting. :banghead:

At least I can hit A to skip the lines, I really hope it will be like this for Skyrim as well.

My number 1 favorite change is the new engine, but mainly REAL SHADOWS. WOOOOHOOO!!!

There are only like 20 other people on this forum that TRUELY understand how god dang hard it is to make your well designed levels have good lighting with the crappy lighting in Oblivion through New Vegas. Oh my god. You have NO clue.

Realistic shadows will make the entire game like 1000x as immersive, detailed looking, and help it have a very nice photo-realistic effect. No clue, people, no clue. :P

For me the one thing is no longer closing all those awful Oblivion Gates. Seriously, it got way too repetitive.
