The one thing I would like-Spoilers

Post » Sun Mar 20, 2016 3:12 am

Major Major spoilers here.

This is filler to try and bump the spoiler section down as I do not know how to make the fancy spoiler thing. This is only filler, do not read past if you do not want a spoiler.

Major one.(s)

The one major thing I would like, is to be able to have my son, Shaun. Not die. Or the ability to bring him back to life. Maybe transfer his whole mind into a synth like Valentine.

I take it really hard anytime I make a play through with the institute. Or well. Any play through at all. As a Dad, and as a former grave digger. I know, no parent should have to bury there child. Let alone there wife and child.

I know we get the synth. But it just does not feel the same. At all actually.

Also, the institute quest compared to the other factions seem to short. There is not enough of them. I mean this is my son here. And I have very little interaction with him. And not one time do I just grab him, and hug him. Or comfort him.

...

So yes, the one thing I would care for in any forum of DLC would be more interaction with Shaun.

Thank you for reading.

My first play through still holds the most influence over my opinion of Shaun.

Due to playing as "Nate the ex-military guy" as opposed to a character I would make I tried to role play as him. I joined the Brotherhood and the moment I met Shaun I was confused and angry that he could be part of all the bad things they had done (as I learnt through the Brotherhood). I disowned him.

As soon as I turn around I see a bed with its rest angled up and I imediatly thought "oh I bet he's gonna die or is sick".

Sure enough we meet again and he says "I hope you're hap..."

I just walked right past him.

Probably not the best way to play the game the first time, but honestly I was confused and kind of disappointing with how the story was executed in some places. (How am I supposed to know that Kellog was a cyborg? And we just rip all those parts out of him like nothing?)

This was a major letdown for me also, because siding with your flesh and blood means being complicit in what are, at best, amoral activities of the Institute. And not taking Shaun's side means nuking him off the face of the earth. I feel like it would have been a no-brainer for there to have been some intermediate ground. Lack of diplomatic and non-confrontational resolutions is my main complaint with the RPG elements of this game.
