Am I the only mage who doesn't mind the less amount of spell

More options the better. As is, its severely lacking from previous games, let alone spell creation.

First you agreed with the OP — who was himself complaining about other people's personal opinions — and at the same time, your own post contained complaints about the opinions of those with whom you disagree.

If the irony in this thread were gold-plated, I'd use it to purchase a Batmobile constructed entirely from winning lottery tickets.

So what your saying is that the complainers dont like a taste of their own medicine and i am not the minority im the majority more people like then dis-like and we're all tired of seeing whining threads, yeah we get it theres glitches just like any game its time to stop and let real discussions begin.

I very much mind the lower number of spells. My role playing abilities have been dramatically reduced because I no longer have the flexibility to make all the different mage characters I wanted that relied on (now gone) spells.

The only thing I've disliked about some of the complaints on spell making systems is many are not taking development realities into consideration or the limits of technology into consideration. As well as attributing the lack of spell making and other aspects of the magic system into Skyrim as the case for reasons that aren't really supported by what information we have.

From what I've seen, there are more "I'm tired of all the complaining" threads lately than there are actual complaint threads. Now THAT is irony... or hypocrisy, one of the two. Perhaps both.

Also, I'd like to point out that it's possible to — prepare for your mind to be blown, now — it's possible to enjoy the game immensely and complain about the things we don't like! Imagine that, a world that isn't black and white!

Aside from the fact that conjuration does not have Raise zombie, permanent summons, banish daedra, turn daedra, or bound arrows in Oblivion, all the other schools lost a lot of spells and gained a few.

Not complaining, I really prefer this system over the old one.

This has been the same complaint since morrowind. That game had way too many spell options. Earwig? Blind? Wtf? Yet all you heard was "Where's levitation? Where is fortify acrobatics x150?"

Which development realities would you like everyone to consider? I'm genuinely curious. As far as Spell Making is concerned, Morrowind had it almost a decade ago (you could fit nearly the entire 1980s in there!), so clearly it's entirely possible to accomplish.

The number of spells would be fine if their damage kept up with higher levels. Destruction in particular is a pretty bad offender. The more interesting spell effects like the continuous flamethrowers, runes, wall spells, fireball, chain lightning etc. all inflict pitiful damage at higher levels.

Sound and Blind were awesome.

I agree with this and the OP of course. The way i see it, adding spell making would have basically took us back to Oblivion with the same animation for everything. I prefer less with unique animations.

Why would they need the same animations?

This sense makes not.

Now who's being childish? You see sure you can go, "Oh yeah sometimes this bug kinda bothers me." and i would agree they are annoying but there is no reason to make a whole damn topic about it and bring it up every five seconds, and the people that complain don't ever say a good thing about the game so you can see how it gets old.

The question is more of where do you end. Labor costs, deadlines, marketing costs, technological limits, multiform comparability issues, all the compromises needed and that is just off the top of my head not an industry insider stuff. Also the question is not CAN you do it, the question is HOW and to what expect is it going to be successful. The fandom idea of implement game feature X even if game feature X ends up being crap because hey at least it's there is not an idea a game developer is going to sanely take.

To the OP: Different strokes for different folks. I like to see tons of spells even if some of them are redundant and, guess what? I'm not a mage and never have played one before. I think this is the "shoe" syndrome that women have. They will buy hundreds of shoes that they will never use but they like the fact that it's there; in their closet.

See, these sweeping statements of yours are why I'm arguing with you, because they're just plain wrong. Personally, I've said plenty good about Skyrim.

However, the GOOD things don't need to be fixed. It's the things people believe are broken that need to be fixed, thus the complaining. Broken things don't get fixed if no one complains. I'm sure you know that old saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"? Well, why does it get grease? Because it needs grease. It's not hard to understand.

Between the spells and the shouts and the enchanting and everything, I'm not having a problem with spells at all. I tried the Flame Cloak spell tonight and ran through 3 wolves without drawing a weapon although I could have fired off a destruction spell too. Too fun! I'm very happy.

As much as I liked Oblivion and its magic, It was kind of stupid, there where too many spells first off, and then there was repetitive animations.

Atleast in Skyrim the spells are much more entertaining.

I haven't really played long enough to fully make a decision on that.

^^^ I think Morrowind actually nailed the balance between spell animations and spellmaking.

In Morrowind, each and every spell effect had its own animation, and if you combined effects in a new spell, you still saw all the separate animations. Like if you combined an AoE Soul Trap effect with an AoE fire effect, you saw both animations fire off (and every spell effect actually had a visual AoE "burst" effect, unlike Oblivion where many spell effects had no AoE burst).

Ah, good times, good times...*goes into nostalgia coma*

You wish

Yes you are. Don't use fancy animations and more unique spells as an excuse. Most spells are useless at a higher level.
