strong point of TES series is that you can ignore the main story , i guess dragons can be blocked like cliffracers with a script

Hopefully the emergence of Dragons will be triggered by something in the Main Quest, so if I have no concern for the main quest (which is inevitable) I can just pretend they aren't a threat and that I'm not the Dragonborn.

I'm in love with every aspect of the game except for when I learned that Beth has decided to treat dragons as any other creature... I mean, they should be more unique aren't they? And I really don't want to take them as another "Cool at first but annoying later" trend... I kinda hoped they'll be rare, not too rare, but that it would definately feel like a boss fight even after 50 times of fighting them. I was hoping that seeing a dragon is something players should be running towards to, and not from.

It's not that big of a deal but just thought it would be different. I'm interested in seeing if Beth's outtake on dragons is good, and hopefully it is.

If there is an invasion, they will not be rare.

It's not like they are cliff racers or something.

[censored] i loved oblivion i don't care how many people say morrowind was better that was Bethesda's failure not oblivion, and no one forced you to enter oblivion gates you only had to enter them during the main quest even then they were optional except for a few. So yeah dragons AREN'T optional you'll fight them one way or another. they will be plentiful but not overrun the game like cliffracers

Well you're a dragonborn, of course you can slay dragons! But at first you're not that strong so you only fight low level dragons. It makes perfect sense and it's cool, in the end game the random dragons will have so high level that it'll be really epic.

If there is an invasion, they will not be rare.

Most likely, since they are dragons, even if they are uncommon it would not be difficult to find one. As in, if a dragon spawns as a random encounter somewhere, you could probably find traces of its destruction easily or even see it flying in the sky from miles away.

So you are not going to bump into a new dragon every minute, but you would likely be able to know where a Dragon can be found at any one time. Except for a dragon in an underground cave of course.

What is confirmed about dragon and some clarification:

1. On Todd being hunted by 3 dragons at one point and him telling to balance that thing: the problem here was that once he started fleeing from one dragon, he stumbled on more of them meaning: the problem was that there was a dragon every few meters away from one another. So what was changed was that you won't meet a dragon every 5 meters, not that you won't have fights against multiple dragons (hell, I am pretty sure we will NEED to fight multiple dragons in later stages of MQ)

2. Dragons won't be neither new Cliff Racers nor new OB Gates. It has been confirmed that dragons have a chance of just ignoring you and won't attack you unless provoked. How often this will happen is unknown and I do have hope that Bethesda will find a good balance.
Also, there are dragons who know common language so you maybe we can even chat with some of them :P

3. Dragons won't be level scaled in OB style. Not just because OB level scaling has been kicked out but it has also been confirmed that there will be more then one type of dragons and no doubt some dragons are stronger then others. Different types of dragons should take care of difficulty balance

4. It has been confirmed that some areas are more dangerous then others. It is possible that dragons will appear in some areas more often (and be more dangerous) then in others

I know what you mean but i highly doubt they'll be as common as a mud-crab, and im a also pretty sure there'll be many different types of dragon with different look, rarity and difficulty, At least i hope all of this is true.

I like that they are common. It kind of removes that guilt that you are wiping out the last of some amazing species just because they are a tad aggressive.
Now it is like killing rats instead of white rhinos.
Also, if they weren't common, there would also be no reason for you. I'm sure any decent army could take on one dragon every so often, why the need for a hero? It is because they are overwhelming that a dragon-born is needed.
(p.s. Anyone else feel the need for a dragon emoticon? I could have used one like three times at least.)

I like the concept of seeing enough dragons to feel like they are over running the land, but if it gets to the point that I feel like I'm fighting a never ending swarm of Cliff Racers, that would be the breaking point.

My main concern is that dragons are the new Oblivion Gates. I think many other people here share my sentiments. Bethesda always seems to think 'Oh, we made something that looks really cool, let's rub it into the players face over and over again so there is absolutely no chance he might not get enough of it!'. I'd rather have a few meaningful, cool and fun dragon fights than 100 boring fights. Personally I think that dragons will become pretty annoying in Skyrim unfortunately. The first time you entered an Oblivion Gate it was cool, but now I hate Oblivion Gates and don't even want to play the Ob main quest because of them. I guess that it will be the same with dragons after a while.

I wouldn't be worried as much if the dragons had been planned to be swarming all over Skyrim from the start, but someone even said thet were originally supposed to be rare encounters but then it was decided that they were too cool to be sparse.

Didn't Todd say there was no finite number of dragons?

This doesn't necessarily mean that there will be dragons around every corner, it just means that they in the spawn lists along with the other critters.

No, you're not the only one OP. Oblivion gates became tedious after a while because they were over-used. They would be much better used sparsely, so that when the dragon appears then we're excited, nervous, awed. Instead, if they're as common as is being intimated then there's a risk they become mundane like Oblivion Gates became. Many successful horror/fear movies use their *insert object of fear here* sparingly as it ramps up the tension and has a larger wow factor when it happens.

I'm disappointed because the novelty will die pretty fast.
As long as they don't attack me without provocation I can deal with it, otherwise it will become lame fast.

I'm not disappointed. I was expecting it because they're what the main plot depends on. I would enjoy getting destroyed by a dragon at level 50, but that's not going to happen.
Didn't Todd say there was no finite number of dragons?

I made a thread when I first read Todd saying that there will be an infinite number of dragons.
