Am I the only one in here who loves the motion blur?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 3:46 am

I love the motion blur, In fact, I've set the shutter speed to the right level and locked the maximum fp/s to 30, just so the in-game cinematics would look like a movie. I should try playing the game at 24 fps sometime.

I think a lot of people fail to give credit where credit is due on the visuals. Would I like DX11? Hell yea, but as a DX9 game as it is now, it really does not look that bad. That's not to say that there aren't probelms, because the game could definitely be better, but I think possible some people are overreacting a little because of the lack of info/communication from the devs.

24fps? That's actually an interesting idea... I might actually try it. I wonder if it will actually give it a filmic quality. How do you lock framerate? Is that a console command?

put this on your autoexec.cfg or system.cfg file:
Code:
sys_maxfps = (your framerate here)
EDIT: without the parenthesis... lol.

@Azminday: I adapt to it, As long as my mouse and kb have no lag when locking the fps. And it makes the game look more movie-ish. I got tired of playing this game in high frame rates because the motion blur wasn't noticeable enough for me.
@Makius: lol.

The problem with the blur for me is it gets in the way. It's way too over the top, in the end looking like they're trying to cover things up with a style that I just don't have the taste for. Radial and Motion Blur are fine when they're done so they aren't so "in your face". It's like the 3D-based movies when they stick things in your face as if trying to say "HEY LOOK! THREEEEEE-DEEEEEE!"

That's what made me hate Avatar. And I saw it in IMAX 3D, mind you. Wish James Cameron didn't blur out EVERYTHING.

Playing any game under a consistent 60fps minimum would be considered holding yourself back. I don't really care if theres motion-blur in the game, what I do care about is the fact I can't fully disable it.

looks like you may be the only one who like it, Good for you, However, it would be logical to include an option to turn it on or of, then everyones happy.

But that would be too sensible

I don't mind it, but id rather have the option to disable it/reduce/increase it if i want, hopefully CryTek will patch in more customisation options.

Yes, you should be able to turn it off if you want (for those that hate it for whatever reason).

I love motion blur and in depth field, makes the whole thing feels so cinematic. I even sometimes spin around while shooting just to see the motion around!

Motion blur is cool and everything but they should do it realistic - example: move your hand in front of you the same speed as when the gun begins to blur, is your hand bluring?

I realy like crytek and hope they fix all the issues fast so i can enjoy the game, ive got a 5970 so i am glad i do not suffer from epilepsy.

Mition blur is ridiculous effect for a game that's supposed to be about immersion. Leave it for the cinematic cut-scenes.

Motion-blur is an after-effect of using 24FPS film and TV cameras. There is blur when fast moving objects are filmed as they move across the frame before a new one is exposed... people's eyes don't work like cameras, so I'm not sure when stupid devs decided that motion-blur was "realistic" looking.

It's just an abused effect to hide how lacking their graphics are when you strip away all the fancy post-processing.
