Am I the only one not using horses?

I hoof it. Stole a couple of horses just to see what the whoop-de-do was, though. They handle better than those in Oblivion, but are still no great shakes IMO. They're OK, I guess, if you're into riding. But my feet can take me places that a horse can't.

I don't like horses in Skyrim. I stole a horse from a skooma-dealing bandit I killed, and rode around for a few minutes before ditching the beast.

Skyrim's horse design and animations are lacking. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Red Dead Redemption's epic horses, but Bethesda's horses feel dated and uninspired.

I stopped using after a rather funny (or not) experience:

I'm not a big user of the fast-travel system, so as I did in Oblivion, one of the first things I did was set out to acquire a horse to be able to move faster as well as enjoy the scenery of Skyrim. After a few hours of dungeon raiding and misc quests, I finally had the coin to buy a horse. After doing a bit of riding, I came upon some bandits. So I made a beeline at them with my warrior and realized that I couldn't draw my sword to attack on my horse. A little frustrating, but whatever. So I dismounted and engaged in combat. Then out of nowhere, my horse shows up and starts wailing on the bandits. He takes out one of them and then bolts at the nearest bandit....who happened to be at the ledge of a gorge with a 200ft drop. Needless to say, it didn't end well. The bandit dodged the attack and my horse went plummeting over the cliff. Following my barrage of curse words after witnessing my 1000g investment charge his way to his own demise, I decided that I would never waste my money on a horse again.

I tend to stay on foot. I've ridden a horse for a little, but I prefer to be on foot, running through the trees and over the boulders. :P

I just walk everywhere, I won't be using horses until there are mods to tell them to stay, to not to engage in combat, to follow me, etc. because they are just too annoying as they are atm.

They look pretty though and I like their animations. :goodjob:

I wish there were more NPCs around riding horses, I feel like I'm the only one in Skyrim who owns a horse. O.o

I want to feel like I'm riding a horse. If horseback riding forces us into a third-person view, then all I can do is watch some guy riding his horse, which is completely unsatisfying. I won't waste my time with it.

I bought a lovely grey mare in Riften, but I rarely ride her because it's just too dangerous out there and I don't want her to get killed. Until I have a mod that makes horses unkillable, I won't be riding much.

I don't like the 3rd person view/controls for the horses. I like to enjoy the scenery from first person, and if I need to get somewhere fast I just fast travel.

I used a horse for a while, but now i dont because of gameplay issues.

They always seem to get in the way when your fighting outside. Bad AI.

It takes an age to mount and dismount which is annoying when you come under attack.

And the worst of all, the horses cant walk backwards/backup.......this is strange and annoying when you walk up to a cliff edge for the view, instead of backing up the horse wants to walk forward and turn instead. Odd.
