Am I the only one that likes lower level gear?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 1:01 pm

I think wearing full iron gear with a long bow and an iron sword feels more immersive. It feels way more...realistic. It kind of svcks because you're almost forced to get the Daedric/Dragonplate armor if you want to survive in Skyrim. Higher level gear looks too fancy as well. How often do you see a hero portrayed with really fancy armor?

I would love to stay at level 5 throughout the whole game but you need stamina, health and perks to be effective. Kind of svcks :(

I agree 100% i like running around looking like the Dovakiinh. What you could do is upgrade the armors to legendary that way you stand somewhat of a chance

Yeah I enjoyed rocking the steel armor, but I upgraded to survive. You just feel like an outcast wearing different styles of armor, but that goes with the homogeneous nature of Skyrim culture.

I wish I had a pc so I could mod the lower level gear into being as good as daedric.

Leather armor looks the best on Thieves, which is annoying as it's pretty bloody basic.

I like to use Steel or Leather. Just smith or enchant it to remain viable.

Steel armor and claymore are the best looking "heavy" equipment so far, though Orcish isn't bad either. The armor still has that "samurai" armor look like in Oblivion. Orcish claymore looks like an oversized can opener though :lmao:

If I find an armor that appeals to me I use it--I never check the price tag. -_-

I love the Orcish armor and weapons. I also like the way the fur tops look but I don't like the "skirt" thing they got going on on the lower half.

Nordic steel armor and dwarven are perhaps the sixiest armor in the game. I shed a manly tear when I had to replace those. Orcish armor is pretty easy on the eyes too, but daedric and dragon looks like something you'd find in world of warcraft. All spikey and what not.

I think most of the high powered armor sets look awful. I'd much rather they looked like Imperial or Studded Leather or Steel, but with great stats.

I wear lower tier armour when I get sick of looking at Deadric/Dragon. If you upgrade it with 100 smithing you should be fine. I also have the Heavy armor perk that give mes a 100% bonus for wearing heavy armor so I do just fine. I honestly like pretty much all the heavy armor in the game, it just depends on what I feel like looking at.

Regular, the plate is a bit too heavy-looking for a battlemage character, and i don't find it as good looking either.

Besides, i'd have to waste perk on light armor smithing to be able to make them.

I'm still only wearing iron armour (I'm at level 9) because I like to show off my deltoids.

I agree.

Currently I'm using flawless steel plate, with Nordic Steel gauntlets and boots. I usually wear a hood instead of a helmet because I prefer it aesthetically. I like this look. It's not as 'rustic' as iron or normal steel armour, but it's still relatively normal. I can turn up anywhere and still not feel like I stand out too much.

Once I make a real start on the MQ (I've currently only visited the Greybeards once, and figured at this point my character could shrug them off as nothing particularly eye opening has happened), I will make Dargonbone armour, and justify it on the basis that I've been hunting so many dragons that it simply makes sense; I will never think Daedric armour looks good though, it's too fancy. It's the sort of armour you'd see on a famous 'black knight' character, not a dragon hunter who's basically fallen into the role by accident.

Yeah. It was the same in Oblivion too. Generally, anything above Silver in quality looks too over the top and fancy for me. Glass and Ebony in particular just look ridiculous.

I do love how the light Dragonscale armour looks though. :)

I'm wearing what I like and think looks good and immersive, for example I'm wearing steel plate with a steel scale helmet. Just use good smithing to buff it up so you stay alive.

Why? After all, smithing, enchanting, and alchemy are so OP that you can make equipment with more armor rating than the game will actually allow you to have. You can just smith up iron armor and weapons to be stronger than daedric without even scratching the surface of how game-breaking the skills can become late-game.

I could agree to the immersion part,it may look a little awkward or badass, however you call it when it's only you walking around in deadric armor.I may aslo agree it looks a little out of place in that situation.
However,I enjoy fantasy-looking gear more than mundane ones.Bethesda has been decreasing the level of fantasy design with each game they release in comparison to MW,and I do not like this.

Morrowind was like a design heaven.Oblivion was not half bad in approach, but the designs were crappy.Skyrim,well...much more mundane, and we're fighting against dragons...Still at a level that is bearable though, but more realistic than that, and it'd get boring for me.This is an acceptable balance in design, there are fantasy lovers that follow TES too, let's not kill the game for them =D

As for immersion, more adventurers walking around in cities wearing high grade armor would do the trick IMHO.You could also put a line between your average security guard and serious dungeon diver.

Imperial Steel Armor. I want to wear it all the time but it's worse than the normal steel plate. But now I'm wearing steel plate and I don't look too bad. The dwarven armor is my second favorite, but even that doesn't compare to the steel plate.

I love the look of the steel plate and have stuck with it. Also just use a dwarven sword, no enchantments or anything. Thats after 72 hours and at level 31 :toughninja:

Banded iron armor with the iron horned helmet is my favorite armor in the game... and now I am shamefully touting my dragonplate armor.

Maybe I'll make some iron armor and upgrade to legendary to see how that is but I probably won't be able to use it in combat. I kind of like dragon armor, but it's a bit too flashy. Daedric is ridiculously flashy... unless I am up to my ears in ebony ingots and daedra hearts, I probably will not make it.

I loved leather armor on my first stealthy character. Very classy. Fortunately I wasn't taking a lot of hits due to playstyle so I could get away with using it even into the 20s.

As for the other armors: I thought steel would be like iron but I didn't really like it as much... didn't seem to have the same Nordic theme. I'm not a huge dwarven fan. A bit too bulky for me. I liked Orcish besides the helmet. I didn't even stop at ebony. I didn't make any daedric. I can suffer dragonbone.
