Am I the only one who misses ammo crafting?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 6:22 am

Except Raiders carry .44 and .38 quite often.

And oh gawd no. New Vegas was terrible. It needs to just die already.

Frankly, the only thing I miss is recycling energy cells and converting plasma and laser ammo back and forth.

No. Scrounger (4/4) and 7 LUCK makes ammo easy to find... except .50 cal. I only have 200 .50 cal bullets. But I get so much .38 cal bullets that I sell those and just buy more .50 cal bullets when I get below 100. Caps is so easy to accumulate in FO4. I have over 50k caps.

Yes I miss it, along with most of the crafting in NV. Crafting in FO4 feels half done. Even with settlement crafting. Feels like there should have been recipies and such for ammo and weapons as well as armors. I also dislike how legendary weapons only get 1 special trait. I feel like it should of been possible to dismantle these pieces to learn how to work these traits into weapon and armor

I didn't care about the crafting, but I do like having ammo variations. I definitely miss that

Crafting? No. Ammo press in The Pitt? Yes.

Yes , very much so. I sometimes have shortage of plasma/.44 ammo and wish I could make some rather than vendor hopping sometimes they barley have any.

I miss it. I also long for ammunition having weight. In hardcoe one needed to make the most of their carry weight, so that specialized crafted ammo was more important. Most bang for your pound I say. As an example look at optimized ammo (GRA, Vigilant Recycler) for energy weapons. It was created at a 3/2 conversion, and had 130% DAM, 110% CND, and DT -5 as its effects. It was also lighter than other ECP, MFC, SEC, and (possibly) flamer fuel types. In fact after I could craft optimized ammo, I carrid that as my standard. I also did the same with other ammo types as well, such as .308 JSP, .45-70 Govt. SWC, .50 MG Match, and 12 guage magnum rounds (pre-GRA).

Nope. But at least I know good games when I see them. Let me guess, a big CoD fan are you?

Crafting would be nice, if handled accordingly.

I don't need the ability to craft an armies lifestock of bullets.... needs balance, but would be nice.

What i really miss is weighted ammo. I'm sick of being able to carry enough ammo and explosives, to nuke the entire world again.

The game would have so much more depth if the player had to pick out carefully what kind of ammo and how much he'd carry.

That would lead to the question what to shoot, how to shoot it and a little planning ahead, instead of pumping 4k bullets in everything that may have moved without any concequences.

There were times I missed ammo crafting but I started buying the ammo every time I barter so it's not that bad for me. If you play on bullets sponge difficulty I can see how this can be an annoyance. More player options are always better thought.

It's possible BGS may add ammo crafting later. Skyrim didn't start with arrows crafting either.

NV is considered one of the greatest RPG's of all time, and one of the best Fallout games.

AMMO crafting was amazing and would be great in this game.

I must be doing something wrong I don't see raiders with .44 ammo often.

I would have used the ammo crafting mod, but I don't since I hear it gives too much XP.

I miss the different ammo types for sure. I think those were replaced with the legendaries.

That is definitely a laugh. Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3. Those are considered to be the greatest RPG's of all time. Everybody likes to pretend NV didn't happen because of how abysmal it was.

I agree that craftable ammo is sorely missed. It should make a return with a patch/DLC

... let's not get into a pissing contest about New Vegas, yeah?

At least the good ones, anyway. Like explosive, incendiary, armor-piercing, etc. A lot of them do exactly what I'd want alternative ammo types to actually do - then they'd be a lot more interesting than what most of NV offered.

I do not hnow about that. In my experience it was definately one of the glitchiest games of all time, and the glitchiest Fallout .? I still have more glitches than what one should endure. At least most of the game breakers are fixed, unlike the "A-bomb" glitch in TES IV: Oblivion. That glitch was really bad. All that aside Falllout: New Vegas was fun, even if the glitches did hamper my enjoyment. Fortunately Fallout 4 seems to have fewer glitches, and fewer sreious ones.

On to the topic, as I have mentioned in a previous post I do miss the ammunition crafting, and the hardcoe ammo weight.

My apoligies for the double post, but my internet connection had a problem. It caused me to create two identical posts. I repurposed this one.

In addition to my earlier post that gave energy ammunition as an example, I would like to mention the shotgun ammos for their versatility and variety.

  • Flechette
  • Dragon's Breath
  • 4/0 Buck
  • Magnum (all types)
  • Slugs
  • Pulse Slugs
  • Beanbag
  • and more

Now imagine these options in Fallout 4. Truly a wonderful thought.

Would like to see the system used in FO3 the Pitt not so much crafting but the ability to change one type of ammo into another

Oh my god yes I miss it. Crafting ammo is one thing, as many seem to think the system was generically limited to...but HANDLOADING was quite another. Really miss my SWCs.

Hell yes, we need an ammo crafting and reloading system. I really need to breakdown the mountain of 5.56 ammo I'm sitting right now into .308, because the assault rifle is oversized rubbish...then maybe reload match rounds to give these incredibly blah ballistic weapons the umph they need.

Also, I agree with some above that the denuding of ammo types was just dumb. I'm talking specifically about hollow points, armor piercing, incendiaries, magnums and +Ps...and yes explosive. It's just weird that those capabilities are limited to weapon systems, and things like being able to buy a weapon that does explosive damage. I don't get it.

Bethesda was teed up for success by New Vegas weapons and ammo. All they had to do was cull the gold out, improve it, and implement their mod system. Instead we got, what I'm seeing more and more of, as a head scratching mess of left-hand chambered, steam punkish weirdo weapon designs, and a really strange mod effects and chambering system.

Yeah, reloading is sorely missed, for breakdown if nothing else. I know Bethesda is pretty entrenched in their own view of things, and we know they own it lock, stock, and barrel; so I don't expect anything will be done. We'll have to wait for the toolkit and the CaliberX guys (for new calibers and types) to iterate for FO4, and accept the limited and very basic crafting system of the current mod.

Yes, yes, at thousand times yes. Man, I hope Santa brings us a GRA catalog and mail order service for Christmas. Until then, I guess we'll just have to pretend the .50 is actually a .50.

I did just get the double shot hunting rifle in a drop, so there's that I suppose, but man I hate the system. And I can forget explosive rounds and that accompanying fantastic VATS kill shot.
