Fallout 2: Sorry we can't help you further, but I'll take those Vertibird plans thank you.
Fallout 3: Sorry, no civilians allow- wait, you have a means of getting the Wasteland under our heel? Welcome aboard!
I really, really don't like the Brotherhood. They take all the good stuff from others in their claimed effort of restoring humanity... But hell, what have they EVER achieved? Lyons was the first Brotherhood elder that achieved something without getting everyone killed, and for that he pretty much abandon the Codex and thus be Brotherhood in name only.
Just about every organization in Fallout are like that. The Enclave, the NCR, Mr. House, etc., all pretend to have lofty goals but they're hypocrites. At least the Legion is honest about their intentions.
You're not the only one who likes them OP. Hell, I love the Brotherhood, check the sig. They have a noble goal trying to help protect people from themselves. They don't always hold true to that, sometimes they stray off the path. I don't really like what Obsidian did with them in New Vegas, why did they feel the need to screw the BoS over and incorporate Van Buren crap into it?
Obsidian and Black Isle made the Brotherhood of Steel interesting and nuanced. Straying far from their original purpose, especially after so many years, makes sense. There are plenty of laws and organizations around the world that are being used for reasons very different from their original intended purpose. For example, in Supreme Court hearings involving the 14th Amendment, it has been used to defend the rights of corporations about 9 times more often than it has been used to defend the rights of black people. The ATF is supposed to protect us from illegal trafficking of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms but look at how often they've [censored] up. Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and the Taliban used to be our allies.
