Am I The Only One worried About Multiplayer Modes?

Post » Wed Jul 07, 2010 2:49 pm

Sounds fine to me. I was just afraid every single game mode would have a bunch of different objectives like "Hack this" or "destroy this." That's great and all but something more simple would be a welcome change every now and again.

Then turn off Brink and play something else.

There will very likely be an objective which basicly requires to hold back the enemy team for a set amount of time. Which, imo, is similar enough to a team-deathmatch.

Yeah, it's called "playing on defense."

To be more accurate it is:

You guys are really [censored]y at times, aren't ya?

I'm with subby socks here. Sometimes it IS refreshing to have something more simple. Otherwise the game becomes similar to a bad movie which tries to add a biggest explosion on top of a bigger explosion on top of a big explosion on top of an explosion on top of an ab-so-lu-te-ly ri-di-cu-lous story.
BRINK shouldn't tell it's campaign in a way Call of Duty does. So simply holding back the enemy must be a situation as well.

In my eyes, that's the best part about BRINK.

Every map in Brink will feature around 3-4 core objectives, like "destroy this," "escort this," "build," "hack," "take object from point A to point B," etc. and they will change depending on what map you play and what team you are on.

And I already explained this - it's called "playing on defense."

Ever since W:ET was released, it has not been a single time I actually wished for the game to have the old classic modes.
If I actually wanted to just kill stuff.. then I just did so.

What is Freeplay?

Freeplay is the option you choose when you want to play the game without the campaign. It's where you can setup a match, change settings like FF on/off and such and just any map, without story tied to it. You may still see the cutscenes, but the map is not tied to a campaign. Also, the options available to players are much more open. In-game team swapping is also available in this mode.

In other words, this is the mode players will play, when they want to play a a more tradition MP style game.

People mention Call of Duty becuase it is the mainstream FPS, and almost everyone who plays on console have played it in one way or another :vaultboy:

I have played it the only way it should be played - single player.

It's just easy to compare with since everyone knows it.

If you look good, COD is mostly used as a bad example (Not talking to you in particular Schwarz)

Odd. I thought this was stopwatch mode.

That's the way it definately shouldn't be played, if you ask me.

At least the more recent CODs have been mostly focused on the multiplayer.

The thing that boggles my mind, is how people will complain about how Brink doesn't have enough game modes, but at the same time, many of the ones complaining, play nothing but DM and TDM all day long. Ultimately, it isn't that the want Brink to offer more gamemodes, it's that they want Brink to to have the gamemode(s) that they enjoy playing - they seem to forget that lots of people enjoy playing the type of gameplay Brink will offer, over and over and over again.

Amen to that. I'm looking forward to this game the fact that I can drop in and out of multiplayer is great. As for gamemodes, I can just go play TF2, AvP, or BC2. I'm more into team play games so this should fit the bill perfectly.

Odd. I thought this was stopwatch mode.

Stopwatch is the more competitive gamemode. It is like playing Freeplay, but with the emphasis being on winning as fast as possible, not just winning.

Stopwatch is "Team A attacks, then B attacks and tries to beat Team B's time."

Freeplay doesn't have the emphasis on time - it's just a regular match. Although, you could probably apply the options I mentioned to Stopwatch as well.
