Am I the only pathetic one doing this?

Post » Sun Oct 10, 2010 10:36 pm

OK, as many of my fellow gamers in here I also have the dlc game save corruption. My only character has over 90+ hours, and just hit level 30. I decided to go to vault 3 to take care of something I was asked to do there (no details cuz I hate spoilers), anyway I did everything I needed to do there, then went to camp mccarran and reported in. Started a new quest, which had several possible outcomes so I saved a few times (overwriting my 3 level 30 saves) only leaving a level 12, with 25 hours of gameplay. So I lost 65 hours!!! Anyway back to the topic of this thread:

Am I the only one that keeps constantly popping my game in, anxiously hoping Ill get signed out and asked to accept the update, only to be let down everytime? Im hoping that Im not the only one.

I had thought the update that was supposed to fix this was coming down the pipe-line on a soonish time-table.

I don't know if it fixes the files that are already borked.

Hope it does, bud.

i did not do this, doesn't seem right to me. I want to earn it even if they robbed me out of 25+ hour play through.

They said it could be weeks away. As long as you continue to hang around the forums you'll know immediately when it is released. Every thread on the front page will be about it.

I got so bored I decided to go to my one and only good save (level 12, 25 hours) and start playing again. Just in case the patch doesnt fix the old saves at least Ill be on my way to getting back to level 30. Just staying away from vaults, and saving alot!!

not the only one buddy, bought the game 29th oct, crashed out on three attempts over that weekend, checked this site almost everyday for some positive updates, fobbed off with what to do list when it's the whats the patch list i'm after, had another crack at new vegas two days ago as getting cheesed with the exuses, crashed again, given up,now choppin heads with fable 3 instead.where's the fun in playing a game when all you can think about while playing it is the thought of it crashing again! WHAT A SHOWER OF SHHHHHHHHHHHH.........................

That is what I am doing right now. I have been playing as little as possible and staying away from the main quest in the hopes of avoiding any game breaking crap. I also save every ten minutes or so and make sure to check my loads every hour or so. I am not suggesting that this will help or suggesting that anyone else do so, it is just that I wanted to illustrate what ridiculous lengths I am going through in the attempt to enjoy this game. It is disheartening, I understand how you feel. Hopefully we will be rewarded at some point for our brick headed loyalty to this game.

@cthulhughost: " brick headed loyalty" LOL, I couldnt have put it better myself. I played for a couple hours today, and got near vault 34, and decided not to even go close enough to "discover" it, even though I know that the troubles are after entering certain vaults, (for me vault 3). But just the .01% chance that I might corrupt another save has me being over careful as to where I go.

I've had 2 play-throughs already. One a 50 hr and other about 80 hrs. I don't have the preorder dlc, nor did I download the patch (in fact I never even signed into xbox live with fnv). With this said, I haven't experienced a corrupted save ever. I've explored the vaults with no issues afterwards. My only problem I had on occasion was freezing consecutive times, but that stopped. Can this corrupted save issue have anything to do with the last patch or the preorder dlc?

You know, I thought it might have something to do with the preorder dlc also. So I tried a few experiments. None of which worked. I tried to delete the dlc, and see what happens when I load the save. It says the same thing, but it didnt says that the save device was missing, it just wouldnt load. Then I tried to redownload the dlc, I tried to move the dlc onto a separate flash drive, tried to move my profile to the flash drive, basically tried everything that had anything to do with the dlc, or the drive that has the save on it. And no luck. If it was that easy I would gladly give up my weathered 10mm, and my canteen if I could play.

I just shelved the game and am playing Fable 3 until the patch comes out. I didn't actually lose any saves ....yet. Though I did lose ED-E and that felt like a warning of things to come so I'm taking a break so as not to lose 80+ hours of progress.

My Xbox is not, nor ever has been, connected to the internet, and as so has never been patched or used dlc. I got the bug in Vault 3, just before meeting the final bad guy.

Please could someone tell me how I would go about getting the patch when (if) it comes out. I have a broadband wire that I was just going to plug into the machine and hope that it would take over. Would I have to sign up to the Xbox live stuff etc?

Many Thanks.

I'm the same, totally - most will be until they suffer these seemingly inevitable problems :( I see people thinking its just a Vault issue, or that Vaults are more likely to cause problems - perhaps the latter is true but I've had this horrible affliction strike when in the NCR bar, another place (I forget) and of course a Vault. I'm going to keep checking in here regularily now, luckily (?) I've just got back into World of Warcraft (yeah, I know..) and also have a BUNCH to do on Fallout 3 still - The Pitt, The Spaceship, the after game extension etc. so methinks I'm going to focus on that until this is sorted.. If it never is I just hope I can trade it in befoer the general public/game shops realise! That is pure pessimism though - surely anything that is coded can be sorted out?

PS talking about going on rampages - this is actually what caused one of my problems - I changed characters only for them to spit out the armour my old follower had - she had left so I thought "screw it" had a massacre, the screen went blue and that was the start of this problem for me! "What DLC?!?"

Just plug the ethernet cable into your xbox & modem, you'll have to sign in,you'll also get a month of free xbox live gold (so don't do it till you know the patch is out!) after which you'll have free xbox silver,so you'll then have to put up with no online multiplay.can you live with that?
