How did vampires come in to existence? What is the background of the vampires of ES? Are they made through divine intervention or just a exotic disease?

Molag Bal [censored] a Nede woman and gave her his blood thus killing her and resurrecting her as a vampire. She went on to turn others.

Don't ignore the hints about Vearnima though, Vampires being living nightmares and such and it was she who provided the cure to Molag Bal.

I assume he did it just for purpose of spreading mayhem and destruction?

What's that all about? Sound very cryptic, walking nightmare. Walking nightmare for the vampire or for whoever who meets a vampire?

Vampirism is often refered to as a curse, but is it really a curse? I mean, after all they are in a sense immortal.

Yeah, because of course not being able to go into the sunlight, taking more damage from refined and magical weapons, HAVING to drink blood and looking like a ghoul ISN'T a curse.

I see what you're saying, but it's relatively easy to see why it's a curse.

The Deadra really does a lot of crap and bad things to the mortal, just because of some petty schemes, but i thought Arkay had ceased a individual existence in the way deadra exist, and instead had become a part of the mortal world (mundus?)?

Well the Aedra do exist to some extent obviously but that is just a story so take from it what you will.

They're also a perversion of the mortal form, so it's also a slap to Lorkhan and/or Auriel

[censored] is blocked? But not [censored]. So I can say that Molag Bal is the King of [censored], but not that he has [censored] people.

Whatever.
