The origin/backstory behind your username

Post » Thu Apr 22, 2010 5:18 am

While reading some strange forums found through StumbleUpon. I came across some rather odd/unique (to put it lightly) usernames and it sparked interest into how someone decides "Screaming_Bloodstained_Priest" is really cool username for a mythology forum.

So... I'm kind of interested in seeing why your username is "blank" instead of "blank".

For me, when I first muscled up the courage to enter the mighty beast known as Internet it was simply for guitar tabs and sheet music. So in my pre-pubascent years I though "guitarguru" would be a cool forum name for a guitar website, and the 'guru' bit made it seem like I wasn't a noob. The numbers were there simply because someone else had guitarguru. Interesting, right?

Well I pretty much stuck with it, because I like giving the impression of being a cocky guitar player on the internet.

I used to use Mooseboy, and when I joined this site I was a member of a metal gear solid forum, so I just used the name I had there.

Also, I just googled Solid Moose, and found http://ninjacomics.deviantart.com/art/Solid-Moose-162644222

I tried about 35 different names and couldnt find a unique one. So in sort of a joke to myself I was thinking something along the lines of the forum being out to spite me. If you ever read the Noob Comic, especially #3 http://www.thenoobcomic.com/index.php?pos=3 you'll know what I mean :D

Red's my favorite color. I thought the word echo made it sound cool. Don't know where I got 419 from. Probably random numbers.

My name is a misspelling of a native american raccoon spirit of trickery and deceit. The correct spelling is Azeban. I mistyped and out popped Azaban.

My other names for various other things include: Nubbz, Slushynubbz, Lusciousnubbz, Dancing One Nut(story there.), and Pancakes the butter milky.

Edit: Another one is Gringa. Note that the only names I've used for internet forums are azaban and azeban. Every other one is used for non forum related things.

It was the name of the ultimate creature in Sacrifice when you align yourself with the God of strife, slaughter, and death at the very end.

An old avatar of mine used to be its head.

It's... not really all that complicated. >.>
My username's just a portmanteau of 'Metropolis' and 'Metaphor'. I was a big http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_%28film%29 nerd back in the day. >.>
Basically, I thought it sounded cool. And, after a while, it just kind of stuck.

Mine is an obscure Dune reference. It's only said in two sentences in the whole book. I think about a third of the way through.

Defron was amongst the first names I entered for a score on some old game. Just pressed some keys and ended up with "Defron". Since then I used it for all game-saves and score entries. Once I started my online life it quickly became my default username (had a short-lived username before it, but then started using Defron).

Been finding myself using Defron's nickname, Deffers, more and more frequently when I sign up, though. Especially anime-related signups. I'd say Defron/Deffers split is about 90/10 right now.

Nothin' but the tired old "swipe name from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer%27s_Slammers" trick here.

Back when I was going to start playing Halo 3 on Live I thought it sounded cool, then I realized satellite internet is to slow for Live.

Oh and I just thought that deadspartan24 sounded better than deadspartan. :hehe:

Bazz has been my forum/online gaming name since I can remember. I added 22 and 27 cause I couldn't have just Bazz 8P
I guess friends and family (online and off) started calling me it because
My real name is Sebastian,
My friends call me Sea-Bass
and my close friends, and online friends call me Bazz.
I dunno, I like my nick-name and it stuck 8)

Original nickname(that I stuck with more then 2 days, i used to blaze through names, mostly Dragonlance ones. Bellcrank, Palin, Raistlin, etc etc) was Sun. I used it joining a Diablo 2 Guild before the game was released called Iron Guard. I was given control of the guild after a while, but then the previous leader came back and forced a power struggle. I took those loyal to me and formed "The Obsidian Brotherhood". That stuck around for a while, and I called myself Sun-OB-. Then I decided I didn't like Sun, and as I've always enjoyed wolves, I decided to come up with a nickname. I have a shirt that has three wolves on it, so I adopted 3 different nicknames(all of which I still use to this day): Starwulf, Darkwulf and Shadowwulf. I tend to use Starwulf for all communication purposes, and some games. Shadowwulf is connected to my email account and any MMORPG I happen to play(course, I usually end up being called SW or Shad for short). Darkwulf is when I'm in a darker mood, it's an alternate gaming tag and chat User-name.

Each has their own particular fictional back-story, but since I'm using Starwulf for this forum, I'll just give its: Starwulf is the leader of a pack of wolves that roam the galaxies, devouring stars, suns, and even planets from time to time. His relationship with the wolves could be viewed as master-subordinates, but in reality it's much more of a Symbiotic relationship. Starwulf uses his greater intelligence and ability to speak to direct the wolves to better targets, the wolves in return yield some of the power gained by devouring stars and the like to Starwulf, each feeding the other over and over, until they eventually rule the entire Universe. Their only true rivals are Wolves of Shadow, and the Darkness Pack. However, instead of fighting each other, they often end up working together when greater strength then either pack has is required. Starwulf himself wields a simple staff with intricate rune patterns carved on it, and lightning crackling up and down the length of the staff, and a dark blue cloak that covers his entire body, including his head, making it hard for anyone to see his face, making it impossible to get a true read on his motives and intents.

Hagashager is a tribute to the now extinct noble beast of the same name

it was a majestic creature, the greatest nature ever produ- neigh
conceived
the intellect of a human
the speed of a Cheetah
the strength of an elephant
the cunning of a Falcon
the cuteness of a new-born puppy
the beauty of a swan

then early humans came and hunted them to make novelty spoons and baby booties <_<
I keep it's memory alive through my username

LONG LIVE THE GREAT HAGASHAGER!

Cornicer is the last name of my old Everquest characters(Rorigon and Bindayen Cornicer- if you see a Rorigon or a Bindayen, that's probably me).

The 1 is because I forgot my original account's log-in info, and was too lazy to get it back.
