Those colored ones make sense, but what would their attacks and abilities be? Red= flame frost=ice black=?? green=??

It's not color-coded based on the elements. The greenish/brownish dragons (the first ones to be revealed) are the fire dragons, not the red ones. So far, the only one we know that matches its color is the Frost Dragon, which is, well, frosty.

That's what I'm saying; the Akaviri Dragons are extinct (with the exception of Tosh Raka), and that the ones that we see in Skyrim are lesser Aedra (and by extension, not true Dragons) that accompany Alduin before he eats the world.

Also, the Ka Po' Tun are not dragons, they are cat-people lead by a Dragon, who was a cat-person who transformed into a Dragon.

So they are not real dragons?

As we've seen there are different types of dragons but apparently with different colours as well.

In terms of colours we know of bronze, green, red, black, and white. These deal not with what abilities they have but their strength.

We also know that there are frost and fire types. I'm sure there's more surprises.

Awesome !!

Will there be gold & silver that would be epic if so :)

They're not Nirn Dragons, they're Aedric Dragons. Still Dragons, but with different characteristics from those that existed on Akavir. At least, that's how it appears to be. There's not much to go on from the lore in regards to Dragons, and virtually nothing has been told about the nature of the dragons we encounter in Skyrim.

Bah, TES lore is a mess. It's all based on interpretation and speculation, with very little concrete information. Makes it annoyingly difficult to make inferences.

I thought I knew alot of TES lore, reading all those hours on UESP... But I didn't even know that about the Dragons in Skyrim might be lesser Aedra :P
But it's very interesting, guess we will know that when the game comes out :D

Supposedly they're Aedra, minions of Alduin in a similar way to how Golden Saints and Dark Seducers are minions to Sheogorath, or how Dremora are minions to Dagon. There's no concrete information about the Skyrim dragons though, I'm only drawing on inferences based on the Akaviri Dragons.

I'm pretty sure there'll be at least one Undead Dragon in the main quest or big side quest. They won't miss that idea :)

All Dragons in Skyrim will be Jills, just different varieties of them.

Actually, Michael Kirkbride, one of the people who for all intents and purposes shaped the gods of Tamriel into what we know them as today, said that these Dragons are something else. I had assumed, based on what I knew of Jill's functions and what these ones were doing, that they were the same. I'm rearranging my hypotheses with the idea that not everything about Tamriel has already been shown in the last four games.

I've seen the normal Dragons, the frost one, and in the Gamestop trailer one particularly enormous beastie.

No, there is an actual Skeletal Dragon; though I thought this was a unique named one and not a random spawn type.

i knoew about blood dragons, one of those guys killed me  and i rememebr that skelle dragon, scared me when i blundered into his lair for the first time

edit: just wanted to talk about how the dragons are returnign and what they are
it has some spoilers about the main quest and other things, read at your own risk
Spoiler
they are not adrea, they were revived by alduiin which is show in the main quest. the skyrim dragons are the dragons that existed in akavir and tamriel (possibly other places) before someone killed (almost) all of them (not the blades, i refuse to believe the blades are dragon slayers from akavir)
