the other 4 types of dragon

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:43 pm

The main two that I know of are frost and fire dragons. Does anyone know what are the other types? Since they mentioned there are 6 different type and a few named ones. Thx

Yes, as in, every single dragon you will encounter in Skyrim. What Todd Howard said was just that the dragons in Skyrim are not the Akaviri dragons that we were familiar with in lore.

Dragon types seem to be based around colors. These are the few we've seen in videos:

Red Dragons: In the lore these served the empire for a time
Black Dragons: These seem to be the elite "jills" that follow Alduin
Blue: Frost dragons

The lore also mentions that Akatosh has "golden scales" in the King Edward series of books. Alduin (which is somehow tied to Akatosh) does not, he's got black scales on the collectors edition statues:

There also appears to be green dragons from this screenshot:

This leaves us with 4-5 possible types. I have no clue what the last one would be, we've pretty much covered the primary colors so I'd guess that last one might be white.

Yeah I believe Jill is just another name for the dragons. The fire and frost dragons we saw are all jills. I hope one of the kind is an unread dragon you find as you tea h some deep part into a cave and wake it up with some puzzle without knowing. Sorry using phone to type lol

jills are alduin's "elite" black dragons, imagine them as alduin's personal guards/warriors.

even though other dragons follow alduin, they aren't jills

But the traditional dragons in TES, e.g. the Red dragons and Black dragons from Akavir, are all dead with the exception of Tosh Raka. Wouldn't this mean all the dragons that accompany Alduin would be lesser Aedra and not Akaviri dragons?

The dragons in Skyrim are not Jills. Jills only appear to "mend the minutes" when Aka breaks

As we've seen there are different types of dragons but apparently with different colours as well.

In terms of colours we know of bronze, green, red, black, and white. These deal not with what abilities they have but their strength.

We also know that there are frost and fire types. I'm sure there's more surprises.

Where is this mentioned? Because the Akaviri dragons are all dead with the exception of Tosh Raka, and the Jills that follow Alduin are lesser Aedra and are not "true" dragons.

As mentioned above, the Akaviri versions may have been the ones that actually served the empire. It was the red variety of those. However, here's some sources:

"After the Serpent-Folk ate all the Men, they tried to eat all the Dragons. They managed to enslave the Red Dragons, but the black ones had fled to (then) Po Tun. A great war was raged, which left both the cats and the snakes weak, and the Dragons all dead. Since that time the cat-folk have tried to become the Dragons. Tosh Raka is the first to succeed. He is the largest Dragon in the world, orange and black, and he has very many new ideas."
From Mysterious Akavir. Although the second to last sentence may imply that other Ka Po' Tun cat-people succeeded in becoming dragons, and that these are the ones we see in Skyrim. But then, what's the relationship between Alduin's return and the return of dragons?

The Ka Po' Tun are not the dragons in Tamriel. Those dragons are described as having tiger like features (stripes and coloring).

My guess is that Alduin has summoned/created/somehow brought forth the Skyrim dragons. They were not the ones native to Tamriel or Akavir

That's what I'm saying; the Akaviri Dragons are extinct (with the exception of Tosh Raka), and that the ones that we see in Skyrim are lesser Aedra (and by extension, not true Dragons) that accompany Alduin before he eats the world.

Also, the Ka Po' Tun are not dragons, they are cat-people lead by a Dragon, who was a cat-person who transformed into a Dragon.
