[RELz] The Oubliette

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:04 pm

I think the conflict isn't with BC IC - it's with Integration. BC IC doesn't do anything to the Tiber Septim, AFAICT, but Integration adds an NPC there. I have BC IC after Integration, so naturally assumed that when I moved Oubliette down after that, it was the conflicting mod. :)
What is this in reply to? I really don't see how a single NPC on the first floor could be causing a compatibility problem for a painting that leads to a new world on the third floor.... Kragenir's adds an NPC to the TSH too, and the TSH is a for lots of NPCs , creatures, and bizarre occurrence seeing as how it's where NPCs that were in now deleted cells end up when you uninstall a mod, or whatever.

Point being: Any number of NPCs/creatures can popup in the TSH, so I'm not sure where you are getting this odd connection between a NPC and some compatibility error.

The conflict isn't with Integration at all. I use Integration in my game and there were no problems. It doesn't even edit the same cell lol, I don't see how it could possibly cause conflicts.

I've hit a bit of a problem:

Went to start a new character tonight to check something out, and noticed there's a new skeleton race in the CharGen. It has two heads too, the skeleton head mesh and the imperial head mesh. Anyway, not that big a deal accept CharGen works just fine until the skeleton race is selected. And then afte that, the whole 'can't select eyes/hair' thing bugs out all the other races. Anyone else getting this?

I've narrowed it down to Oubliette being the culprit, as it only happens when this is active in my load order, bash patching and all. Using v1.1.1 as well. Not too big a deal as I can always just turn it off to create the character and then turn it back on afterwards. Just thought I'd share my finding.

Outstanding work by everyone though, only about half way through, but WOW :D

BTW: I also have no problems with this loaded before BC:IC and the Tiber Septim Hotel. Other than what I mentioned above, it works great.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last night. I was confused and tired so I didn't try fixing the problem, I had no hair and eye options either. I blamed it on the cosmetics pack I was using... Nice find!

There's a skeleton race defined in the plugin file that has the playable flag selected. This probably should not have been set, and is why it's showing up in the race selection during chargen.

Yea, I know what causes that, it's a simple fix. I just wanted to get the word out to the team.

Thanks for the head's up on that Zinni! :foodndrink: I'll make a note for Rider so he can add that to the list of things to tweak for the next update. Good catch!

I just had to say, after playing through most of the dungeon, that this has been one of my best experiences playing oblivion. Great job everyone! :goodjob:

It can get frustrating at times, but once you get past it, it just seems all the more of an accomplishment. :)

And everyone don't forget to vote! I'm excited to know who made what level! I think I know a couple, but all will be revealed soon B)

I've enjoyed this quite a bit... I most appreciate all the new (to me) sounds! I am now in lvl VIII and have so far enjoyed VII the most-
Spoiler
the bad dream in which no combat is necessary
- very surrealistic with some cool warping effects I haven't previously seen.

Spoiler
I'm starting to loose my love for the key hunting aspect of lvl VIII though... can't find the key to leave Vaermina's Halls of the corrupted and enter Molag Bal's something
Any tips? :ahhh:

Tips? Pretty please! I've looked around several times and have no more patience to cover the same ground again and again. Thought I poked into all nooks and crannies the first time... is the key placed such that it might have been disturbed by combat? I found all the previous keys easily enough. :poke:

It took me a while to find this key too. It's not in an obvious spot. Look
Spoiler
in one of the halls, on a little lip near the ground next to the walls. It's not in a room or any place where you would assume to look. It's in between two of the major rooms.

Thank you! The key must have been disturbed... reloaded a save from the Arena area and found the key
Spoiler
on the brick "lip", at ground level, right by the chest in the hall before the room with a statue of Vaermina.

Update: Rider says he should have the next, and likely final update ready on Saturday evening sometime. :D and Zinni I made sure he knew about the Skeleton race issue so that will get fixed as well.

Voting ends on Saturday at midnight! Two more days to finish the Oubliette, assuming you can find your way back out, and get your votes in! :woot:

Argh! I wont be in time to complete The Oubliette before voting ends. I'm stuck. :nope:

Spoiler
I've fought my way to where I come back to the main big room where I can now jump/climb down. Whenever I try to get down there I die from something unseen. Maybe I land on spikes at the bottom or something, I can't tell. Am I supposed to jump down at all or what?

Any help would be appreciated.

Spoiler
There is an alternate way. The Oubliette core is designed to make you think. Have a look around. Is there something you could jump on? Do you see any of the odd colored Welkynd Stones somewhere? Shoot them and another way may appear. You can't jump down to the bottom. Rider put in a kill zone to prevent people from cheating and bypassing all the levels. Have a closer look at your surroundings and you'll spot the way down.

If you're talking about after level VII, then:
Spoiler
Do what WhoGuru said and look for a key. Hint: look around the area where there is a dead skellie on a stool.

Boy, I'm embarrassed to have to ask this but here goes...

Spoiler
I've completed level I and level II. The rest of the doors won't open (I assume they're exits) and one door is magically trapped. HOW do I get to the other levels? I turned off clipping and flew down there but I'd like to know how to do it the correct way without cheating.

P.S. I really like this mod so far, except for the jumping... I despise jumping.

Oh and one more thing... there's no way I'll get done in time to vote today. Why is there a deadline for voting?

I am stuck in Hircine's Arena.

I cleared 1st level, jumped down to the 2nd one, cleared it but no sign of any key whatsover to proceed to Vaermina's Halls of the Corrupted.

I am using MMM & Frans (increased spawn versions) so if the key was placed somewhere near the ground it is quite possible it was "lost" due to the extensive battles taking place.

any hints pls?

Nevermind, I found it!

Guess it was the occassional dungeon blindness

By the way, thank you all people who contributed in this masterpiece, this high quality dungeon crawl :foodndrink:

I'm not exactly sure about your problem, but
Spoiler
Try looking for a broken fence on the wall, facing the center of the Oubliette, and jump down from that point and you'll land on a bunch of rubble. From there you can climb up and you'll be on the level below the one with I and II. At least I think that is where you are right now...

The deadline is so DarkRider can count up all the votes and then announce the winner in each category, this was a contest after all :P

Is there a list somewhere showing the level names and corresponding numbers? I've played over the past week and didn't take notes... I want to be sure to get my votes right and only remember the names of the early levels. Am now going back in to try my luck with the last couple levels... :obliviongate:

To get to some of the levels, you need to jump. :P Have a look around. Is there a broken or open section of railing? If so, jumping is in your future. Do you see anything near you that can be used for a platform? Perhaps you need to simply look down for a landing place? :D

And the voting deadline is really so those of us who crafted levels for the Oubliette can finally stop twitching at having to be quiet about which one we built! It's murder I tell you.

There isn't actually. I think Rider counted on the Numbers on the doors being enough. :P I believe one or more people on TESA may have made their own list. I'll poke around and ask for you. :foodndrink:

Edit: Oops! I didn't see Rider had added a list of the level names to the OP! :lmao: Here you go! - http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=1052712&view=findpost&p=15270471
