The patch really did mess up dragons.

I just found a dragon and I never thought I'd see this problem but he was flying backwards. I can't even get him to fight me because all he's doing is shaking in the sky like hes having a seizure. He even crashed into a ruin structure and made everything shake.Worst part is the game thinks I'm fighting it so I can't fast travel and it keeps following me.Not all dragons do this but the dragon at eldersblood peak is definitely doing this crap. I can get the shout word but I don't feel like I earned it. I really hope they fix this in the next patch along with some other things. Anyone run into this yet or any other bugs with this patch?

Edit: Dragons priest are bugged for me to but only the named ones. They don't fight and I can hack away without taking damage.

I'm on XBOX and seen lots of reports of this. Until today I had not seen this bug personally.

I heard the dragon roaring in the distance right before entering the Gildergleen Sanctuary but since I was escorting Maurice I chose to head directly inside. When I came out I noticed the dragon jerking and darting. It stalled out in midair. I chased after it twice and it finally ended up stuck inside a mountain, only its wing and tail visible and unresponsive to my fairly close range magic attacks.

Anyway, I decided to reload to a save before accepting the Sanctuary quest. Went straight to the same area and defeated the dragon without any glitches.

I can confirm that the same dragon is pulling the same shenanigans on the PS3.

Are you talking about the patch which just came out today? It seems to have fixed this behavior for me, though I will have to go check a few more dragons to be sure. I am using the Xbox.

In the interest of logically proving nothing, I can contribute that I have not seen dragons flying backwards, but I would certainly like to. They're far more nimble than they look.

On the PC, my small subset saying I have not seen them flying backwards is woefully inadequate to prove that they cannot fly backwards. However, it is important to keep this datapoint in sight because clearly they do not always fly backwards. Something is triggering this odd behavior, and it that stimulus was present in the 1.2 patch as well as the 1.3. There's more to this than a dragon flying backwards, but I don't know what it is... Pathing? AI? Glitching inside a container? It feels to me like these are more likely than an animation bug. The observation where he actually crashes into a structure and causes a shake is interesting.

Can any of this behavior be tied to another actor? Mudcrabs? Anything?

In my experience, it happened with dragons who have a home that they patrol around. The patrol path would get bugged and they would hover in one place. Then when you killed them, their path-finding got glitched, like they couldn't properly break out of where they were supposed to be patrolling in order to fight you, or something. You could see the calculations getting messed up as they zoomed around at great speed, got stuck in mid air, flew off into space, etc. Especially when they got to the stage when they were supposed to land, but couldn't. But as I say, I think it is fixed by the 1.3 patch.
