The patch.

if obsidian has any part in future fallouts im going to flip out.

Well they (the heads of Obsidian) took part in past Fallouts so without their involvement you wouldn't have Fallout 3. I doubt Bethesda would have wanted the franchise without the talents of these people.

talents lmao. thats why one employee who was recently terminated said he had survived SEVEN layoffs. FO3 was an incredible game you cant say two exspansions and the exploring factor are good in the same breath as saying they did a bad job. Talents... thats why we waited 5+ months for a patch that still doesnt work.

Personally they did a bad job with Fallout 3, the ? good thing is the exploration, The Pitt and Point Lookout, but the others plainly bad IMO, New Vegas was better for me,

But Im not a Bethesda hater, and maybe you should edit you post, since that some people are sensitive about "being a hater of a Company"

I personally think FO3 is much better. the critics (g4tv, gameinformer, etc.) have also rated it higher than NV. i have over 200 hrs. on FO3 (including all of the dlc), and have experienced only minor glitching. the game was just better, IMO. NV, which i have played for over 160 hrs, was good, just not as, and way too many major glitches and bugs. the fact is, FO3 did better as far as ratings go, and held a higher price at gamestop alot longer. NV is already $19.99 for a new copy, after only 6 months. that says alot. great "in demand" games hold their value longer, just like great "in demand" cars do. the truth is in the votes. i guess i don't hate obsidian entertainment, i just hope that from now on, bethesda keeps them away from any new FO and elderscrolls titles.

but fallout 1&2 used a totally different engine and tools. you are right tho, without 1&2, there would be no 3.

Your not all going into the whole Fallout or IP owner or maker flame war are you. Bethesda has the IP, their quite capable at everything they do.

Obsidian is aswell, aside from programming.

Ultimately none of of either match the original Fallout 1 of which Avellone isn't apart of.

Also New Vega is the buggiest Fallout. Wether you know it or nt all Fallouts have been fairly buggy at launch.

Back to the bugs.

The inability to not ramp up patching right after launch was astounding is all I can say.

I wonder if this is an issue with Honest Hearts DLC. Maybe the patch thinks that Honest Hearts isn't installed and needs files for that. This shouldn't happen cause DLC is a choice.

I differ, I have problems with the game itself, with all the patches, all the DLC, no mods, the games often crashes, have some unwinnable instances like sometimes the Behemot from GNR never appearing and thus, reloading the game, among others bugs and glitches that was never fixed, Yeah, it got best rating and reviews, but for me thats the less thing that I care, there is a lot of game out there wich IMO doesnt deserve even an award, but I dont care either, New Vegas is have more similarities with the old Fallouts, its more appealing to me, and well, maybe Im the only person in the world who want those two companies to work together,

Fallout 3 Pros

Good Exploring
Freeroam after escaping Vault 101
Battles
Some good locations
House Themes
The Pitt and Point Lookout DLC (Since that they re the most grayer conflicts in the game)

Cons.
Bad Writting
Poor Voice acting
Black and White conflict (Good Vs, Evil,)
Forced to join the BOS even if you are an evil person, you cannot even join the Enclave
Most places are just for looting, not even a mini-quest to do
You become a demigod character, ruining the roleplay aspect for me

I can praise a game yet at the same time criticize their flaws

I wonder this aswell. Thing is I haven't even downloaded the patch as it got removed before I got on Live and still get the missing DLC popup every load.

So it might just be on Microsofts end.

Really?, then I suppose when they approved the new patch (since that they re Publishers) they ACTUALLY know that the patch was broken for console users :whistling:

Again, both companies are responsible for this, dont make one of them free of all the charges

Drop the flames guys. It's on both Obsidian and whatever men Bethesda have available that's not busy on Skyrim.

Bethesda are doing this from the beggining, they are the QA and testers

Yeah but it was Obsidians project, they're mainly responsible for it. Did anything like this Happen with Fallout 3?

*facepalm* Fallout 3 had a longer project period and probably a more dedicated team of testers.

And yes even Obsidian had QA and Testers involved. The blame is split between both.

Also it's incomprehensible to think Bethesda wasn't involved a little bit in the background on New Vegas.

Obsidian is talented but as we saw from Alpha Protocol their programmers svck more than Beths.

i don't remember anything like this happening with FO3, and it was designed from scratch, unlike NV.

Right anyways.

As far as the DLC missing error on a save load a I don't have the new patch installed I believe it's an XBL error so MS has to work directly on this.

Im not an expert on this stuff, but since its not made from scratch, doesnt that technically mean it should have minimum bugs(learning from F3)

Damn, it sounds as if those who got the xbox patch got one really [censored] patch, more like a game breaker from what I'm reading. That's pretty bad, thank god mine works though :D

Like Treyster said,

Both companies shares the responsibilities,

Obsidian have bad programming staff, meaning that they will dont have good time fixing the bugs

Bethesda should delayed this game for at least 4 years to be more completed and less rushed,

Also, the Gamebryo engine has been tweaked again with New Vegas, and this engine started to show problems since Oblivion, where the engine was tweaked for its first time, tweaked again with Fallout 3, and again with NV, the engine itself was not unstable, but problematic sometimes , gladly, they re gonna use another engine (The Creation Engine)

Dario, I believe personally it was rushed to the market because of RAGE's launch near the Fall. Also most likely to fit Bethesda Game Studios own release schedule while filling in the Fallout void before a larger one to 4.

Just asking, but you are on PC, 360, or PS3?

Hope not, I personally think its not a good reason to rush a game, specially a Fallout game, they own the IP now, a rushed game maybe can just damage Obsidian image, but Bethesda too, no matter if they arent even involved
