I seriously think this was written about Skyrim (somehow).

The band is classified as Viking/Folk Metal, so it fits in that respect as well.

Yeah, sorry, but repetitive electric guitar riffs and screaming metal vocals don't say "Skyrim" to me.

(goes back to listening to David Bowie)

No thanks. I don't really want that playing while I'm taking my peaceful walk in the wilderness. Nor when I am having that epic battle with a dragon.

I think I've realized why this genre is considered underground.

Each to his own, I guess.

(The lyrics fit more than the music, by the way).

Bwhahaha!

Yeah...Big fat NO!
A screaming little jerk, a clip of a crow landing on a treebranch, and a reference to LotR?
Not in my bowl of Skyrim cereal, sir! Not enough milk...

I'll stick with the main theme, thanks!

Jeremy Soule's works of art are plenty good for me.

Oh no, nothing wrong with the genre. It just doesn't fit a fantasy roleplaying setting. Leave it to the pros (Soule).

Good lord I hate Ensiferum. Folk metal in general is just horrible, imo.

Also, lol'd at calling folk metal "underground".

You might enjoy Bathory. The Nordland albums inspire thoughts of Skyrim in my mind.

And here's a song that gives me the same feeling I feel when I hear the Skyrim theme. It feels so epic!

Ulver is folk metal, I would not call that folk metal.

Ehm.... I don't really think so. I respect different tastes but I do hope they stick to a more ambient soundtrack similar to oblivion. It's not something I listen to when not playing the game but it fits this type of game really well.

I wasn't really trying to say that the song would fit in with the actual gameplay. I just think that an energetic song about the end of the world in a fantasy setting played by a Scandinavian band at least somewhat fits a game in an energetic fantasy setting that happens to be related to Scandinavia that portrays that fantasy world's foretold apocalypse.

I think that was a run-on sentence.

This seems like it would work only during an epic battle (Hears the screaming in the middle of the song while typing message). The vocals, while I enjoy screaming, ruin the "Skyrim" feel. The only metal I will play during skyrim are SELECT songs from Burzum (only the Dark Ambient songs). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aILcxwc7jsM&feature=related This on REALLY low volume would set a very interesting mood.

I like your train of thought though, epic viking metal for Skyrim.

All joking aside, that doesn't really fit for me.

Meh. I quite like Ensiferum's first two albums. Their songs are really hit or miss for me though... and the song in the OP is a miss.

I was just about to link that song.

I'm not really a fan of the Nordland albums (the earlier albums are much better in my opinion) but that's an awesome song, and definitely the first song that comes to my mind when I think of Skyrim.

I never understood the point of screaming/growling, to the point where it not only has no harmony with the rest of the music, but also makes it almost impossible to hear what's being sung. Sabaton is about as far as I'd go with growling in music (or if you really pushed me, Battlelore), but I prefer metal with "cleaner" vocals... Rhapsody of Fire, Blind Guardian, Van Canto, Dream Evil, etc.

The Longest Journey from From Afar is more fitting. (warning, folk metal really devoted fan post)

But anyways, heres some more songs that would fit even better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta1lIN32E_E

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G25ZWp7C7yA << This one especially though the lyrics don't fit. Sound like they do though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH0y3_-jX3o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVAQQujgSxQ (not folk metal but beast none the less)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9y9PgT0ZM8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FP_yFIvQgo (anything by Moonsorrow would fit well)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ :P

I never understood the point of screaming/growling,

Actually depending on what you listen to growling can fit extremely well with the music (some bands overdo it though or they just plain svck at it and are just doing it for giggles). Although it also helps to be very very used to it. LIke me. I can understand even the dirtiest growling, so may be I'm a bit bias.
