The Playable Lich in Skyrim

Post » Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:30 am

Hello all, im just curious about how many people who like to roleplay necromancer's and evil characters would like to see the playable lich feature added to the game. i would appreciate positive input and please leave your thoughts and ideas and comments about the matter. anyways, for those who played the lich mod for oblivion PC version i was hoping it would be something like that, a skeletal robed lich but with a larger shaggy robe and hood/cloak and weaknesses like '' weakness to holy ground'' and other ones like ''weakness to sunlight'' or water/rain and of course the new spells and abilities to use useless old bones and create your own undead minions, and of course the spells ''conceal true nature'' and reveal true nature'' so your player can revert back to him or her's previous self and can still complete quests and enter towns. if anyone has any interesting ideas to add about the lich please comment thank you all.

It would be really cool to have a long side quest to become a lich, but I don't know about starting from the beginning as one. I never really liked the lich mod for oblivion, but I think it was just the way it was done, I did try really hard to enjoy it.
If they don't in this one then hopefully in a later release.

There were a few for Morrowind which were truelly brilliant. You became a disgusting abomommation, but still good lucking in my eyes, and had a spell you could use to change your appearance. You gained a large amount of Magicka, new spells, and a kick ass questline. I rather hope that Bethesda decides to add an actual means of Necromancy into the game. The whole killing a person and trapping their soul in a scary black soul gem made me laugh at the screen. I wonder what ever happened to the Corpse Preperation series from Morrowind....

I wouldn't mind being able to become a lich, but I definitely don't want any "conceal true nature" or "reveal true nature" spells. A lich might not be able to walk around publicly, but there are people within the cities who would be more than happy to deal with a sentient and powerful undead mage.

A necromancer becomes a Lich to extend his life. Don't see why a necromancer would want to throw away his youth. He's going to have next few hundred years to be a Lich, I think he can wait.

That being said it be nice if you could become a Lich, at least in title. All because I don't want to be one, doesn't mean people who do shouldn't be able to.

I hope necromancy has a decent role in Skyrim. I just don't want them to be generic evil mages. I study dead things... so I'm evil?

Maybe turned to lich later in the game, not during character creation. And then all NPC's would have to be hostile (besides necromancers)

Well not necessarily just extending their life from old age and sickness, battle wounds too. That would actually be a really cool gameplay mechanic, to respawn everytime you die at your phylactery instead of having to reload a save. And if someone does destroy your phylactery (Oooo like fighters guild mercenaries contracted to kill you or something, don't laugh too hard its totally doable), then you reload the save.

Oh I think I did play that morrowind mod a little bit a while ago, that was pretty good. I second the no hide true form though, but a robe disguising your appearence ala Gray Fox would be ok I guess.

yeah i didnt mean to start out as one, but seeing how there is vamps and probably lycans it would be only fitting if they added a new playable undead lich race, but shouldnt be easy to become one . they should make it extremely difficult to become one, like searching the country for tomes and talking to well hidden NPC's to acquire knowledge about it and a huge side quest to make it enjoyable for your time spent.

Actually doesn't sound that bad, certainly balances the fact you can't walk around freely anymore.

You should smell really bad in the robe though lol, you know with the rotting and everything.

Huh? It wouldn't break the lore, there were liches in Oblivion and Tribunal, and there were even kinda instructions on how to do it sorta.

Maybe as a DLC or as part of an actual expansion pack like bloodmoon was. Necromancers could get some revenge against what's left of the mage's guild.

I couldn't see it working, plus we have a bunch of threads about this, including an older one made by you.

It'd need conceal true nature and a really long quest...

Such about as long as the mainquest of Oblivion. And not everyone'd be hostile.

What it needs is repeatable activities and a vast expansion of gameplay. We gotta be able to interact with society in more ways then just being the questing adventurer or the murderer/robber. The Game needs to let us be a political player of some sort before being a Lich would be anything more than something mage characters do before slaughtering the gameworld.

I don't know. Lichdom is the ultimate goal of many necromancers and they spend the lives trying to achieve it, most in failure. If it is included it should be the most difficult thing to achieve in the game. Personally, I'd rather be a wereshark.

I guess, but really? If anything it should be something hard to do.

I am all for it being hard to do. At the very least you'd have to be a Master of Mysticism. In my eyes the more challenging the better, like, eltonbrand or beating Morrowind without Vivec with no walkthrough hard. The longer the better too, and preferably free form, or at least semi free form. Thats just me though.

i think it would be cool if they added a different type of lich feature like nether and spectral. has anyone seen the movie ''Reeker'' how his image is displayed like a mirage fading, and sketchy movement.
