Is the population shrinking?

The book makes sense when you think of the real size of the Niben.

How would you get lost following a river? Because it's not a river, it's an inland sea or gulf.

I hope you all realize this doesn't matter in a world where someone with the right esoteric knowledge can make a myth about Tamriel being a giant wad of pudding and so thoroughly make it to be true that they then eat it.

Of course.

The mighty empire of Tamriel is a tiny pocket kingdom smaller than lichtenstein. And Nirn is a globe so small the horizon would curve away from you in less than a mile and it'd be feasible to dig a hole to the other side.

That's not what anybody is saying, the actual size is just a bit trivial.
How do you know to use the same rule when scaling the cities with the provence?

Other than that I have no reason to doubt your numbers

Those eight islands refer to the islands in the whole of the Niben.

I agree. We don't have to draw up an exact geography based on extrapolating from one distance mentioned in lore.

But I think that it does give an indication of the smaller end of the scale we could imagine for the elder scrolls setting. If Nirn was earth sized then Tamriel would have to be allot larger given that it's the major land mass.

What people mean is that the Imperial Province is really big, which for this case is a very valid size unit. The exact mathematical size is not that important.

People should either have a proper sense of scale, or admit that they're exaggerating. To someone as anol as me, when someone boldly claims that the Rumare Island is 500 times the size of ingame Cyrodiil, I immediately think they don't know just how big that really is.

Then you'd either be wrong or not realising that "size" refers to area.

How big do you think Tamriel and Cyrodiil are in lore? Bearing in mind that even taking into account the distance given in lore (from Mournhold to Red Mountain)... Nirn still works out to be a much smaller planet than earth.

Do you like picture Cyrodiil as a small medieval kingdom and the other provinces are like the deserty deset to the south and the swampy swamp to the east?
