The priorities of Bandits, Orcs, and any other aggressive ra

A valid point, but I often experince that my enemies help me fight the dragon so it might be random(?) or something. I am surprised about the fact that they don't hide and cover in fear until it's over and then begs me too not kill them.

I've had a villager hiding from the Dragon, and when I ran in for the kill I accidentally touched the villager with me axe.

Result: Entire town and it's guards tries to kill me...

I will probably make another thread about that, because it's annoying that when you fight a dragon with 3 guards and you accidentally touch a guard with your axe, they turn to you instead of the Dragon.

It does seem pretty stupid when the bandits continue to attack you when a dragon a breathing fire on them.

I like the fact that as I was fighting a dragon, I ran into a bear. I killed the bear, killed the dragon, then a Spriggan came out of no where and I killed her too. It was a fight from hell but exhilarating and I thought, realistic. A bear won't give a [censored] about a dragon, doesn't know to fear them yet.

Frost Trolls ganking me while I'm fighting Blood Dragons does get a bit frustrating.

In my experiences creatures always seemed to focus on the dragon until it is dead. Maybe I just got lucky though.

I think this is just a weird assumption you're making about how people would react. The actual mechanics are likely a simple aggro system; you pull initial aggro if they see you first and the dragon would logically have to pull them off of you. If they see the dragon before seeing you they'll fight it along side you until you do something to pull aggro from the dragon.

If you need to rationalize this they're all just attacking their most immediate threat/target. If the goal is to kill you and get all your pretty gear the fact that your preoccupied with a dragon makes it a good opportunity to blindside you. As for animals, you just look tastier than the dragon does.

For the most part I do agree, it makes alot more sense that way. However, I think if the dragons focused on you, it makes more sense for him to kill you and make off with your loot. That is unless the dragon catches him before he can get away, nom nom.

Just script in a deer's "flee response" when a dragon shows up, but then again, I was attacked by a dragon and he was burning everything in it's path...including a bandit fort, so anyone is fair game for a dragon....I had to re-load a few battles because some Dip-S&%*+ stole my kill!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I hope that the NPC's will somehow receive a good update so it's more realistic!

I hope this will happen to me soon as well, because it's starting to get annoying to get killed by a Bear after I absorb the Dragon Soul. :)

That's happened to me three times already. Twice right after I killed a dragon and was about to absorb its soul and the third time while I was absorbing its soul. Standard protocol for me now is: Hear dragon, search for bears. If there are no bears, engage in epic dragon battle.

Edit: As a matter of fact, the first time it happened, I was running away from the bear while, simultaneously, trying to slay a dragon. The stupid bear even ran right past the dragon when it landed, completely ignoring it, just to take out little ol Dovahkiin. Annoying indeed.

Mayby it would make sense to let your enemies flee the scene when a dragon appears....it could be easily programmed ?I guess? and it also makes some sense... wolves would be scared of and bandits would care less then to kill a dragon and would leave you deal with them...

Realistically, any remotely sane predator like wolves or bears should recognize when they are outclassed and just flee. That obviously includes predators that are twenty times their size breathing fire showing up, but also, when the squishy human in robes suddenly blasts half your wolf pack into charcoal with lightning from his eyes, it's probably a good idea to run, then, too.

Are orcs aggressive to the other races? I play an orc so i don't know and i can walk around and talk to them in their strongholds. :X

No, that would be a certain group of Nords.

But it's illogical to keep attacking a person that doesn't focus his attention/attacks towards you. And the Dragon attacks everyone, including you (being the aggressive creature). Therefore you are directly affected by the Dragon, and no one would continue attacking someone, dropping their guard against a way bigger and more monstrous creature.

Wut?

Logically, attacking someone who's not focusing on you would be the better option.

I didn't mean it like that; I mean that it's illogical to attack a individual that's trying to save your life as well as his own. I worded that sentence the wrong way. :P

Maybe the wolf is smarter than you're giving him credit for. You're being attacked by the dragon, not him.

Maybe he just figures he can rip a juicy peice of adventurer leg off and book it before the dragon notices.

I think you're overthinking this =P

And that's pretty much how an Opportunistic Predator would Act IMO.

Yes, temporal unlikely alliances between two or more groups/people, who are enemies to each other, should be able to be born when facing a far greater threat like a dragon that could kill both sides. The pact then should be over the instant the greater threat is slain. This is what this topic is about, correct?
