The problem with guild questlines

As we all know, one of the main features of the Elder Scrolls is the variety of guilds and their rich, deep questlines. However, these may in fact be overshadowing other side quests (or even the main quest for that matter). I don't know about you, but in my case, whenever a new Elder Scrolls comes out, I look for my favorite guild and do its questline. I focus solely on it. Meanwhile, all of these other side quests are just waiting around, each with their own immersive story, but I am too busy doing the guild quests to pay attention. Then after those, I do another guild questline. And another. I keep doing one after another. And it isn't just me. Everywhere on the forums people are talking about the guilds, what they thought about the story, etc. In Skyrim, I literally went through the Mages Guild, the Thieves Guild, part of the Companions, and the Dark Brotherhood before even thinking about looking into the other content put into the game. I believe part of the reason is just that we are accustomed to them being so good. Another part is that they often of the best loot for each respective play style. I believe other quests should have worthwhile rewards. I am not saying that guild quests should be abandoned, just that more incentive to do other quests should be put in place.
