The Problem with MGS V:Ground Zeroes

Post » Sun Mar 23, 2014 2:04 pm

From "cash in game" to "gloified demo" this game is the center of attention this month by majority of the gaming community granted while the story was thrilling and such in the end though with the pricing of the game and how obviously how short the game was.... fans of the franchise and other gamers as a whole are either split, confused, or angry at this game....anyways what are your thoughts about Metal Gear Solid V:Ground Zeroes?

Keep it nice and clean in the thread folks!!!

also just because there is replay value doesn't cut it

now before anyone tells me "why are you hating on this game" (don't know why people will think like that) but the fact that this well "prologue" was just $30 dollars, limited replay value sure there is the hard mode, and the extra ops and side ops it will not be enough....i love the MGS franchise but man Konami wanted those dollar signs across the board once more....too bad it back fired hahahaa

I'm not sure what the hell you're railing against here. Your rant seems kind of inconsistent beyond 'LOL SCREW THOSE GREEDY CORPORATE VILLAINS!'. So...you're mad because you didn't like the game?

no your mis reading the point of the thread, it's just a thread gathering the gamer's opinion on Metal Gear Solid V:Ground Zeroes

I'm not mad at the game oh no! again it is a very gripping, and awesome game to play I'm just saying "why did Konami made it for $30 for a well prologue?" it's kind of dumb from a business stand point because by making this $30 and just have one singluar location only it seems kind of stupid and a slap in the face to anticpated gamers and fans alike

From what I'm told, the game has 2-3 hours of story. But, given how most games tend to have a 4-6 hour story average amongst most players and it's sold at $60, I'd say you really didn't do much more than got what you paid for. Maybe it's shorter than most other MGS games, I dunno. Not a big MGS fan to begin with, but given you paid for half the going rate of most games for a game with more or less half the playtime of other games for, there's not much to complain about from a pricing/gameplay value thing. But if it's an 'is it a good MGS game', I can't contribute there.

TBH, the only thing I didn't like about GZ, was that it's set in one area through out the entire game. I guess it's not that big of a deal considering there are many objectives and ways to accomplish them. I think I got my moneys worth.

As for the poll:

1- Don't know.

2- I think it was all the above. It was a way to get more money, probably more interest, and a prologue to TPP.

3- Apparently TPP doesn't release until 2015 (and 200x longer than GZ), so it's a nice way to introduce us to the story, graphics, etc...

Because there's a longer MGS game around the corner that will keep the fans happy if this were to upset them, and given the budget of the game, if they set the price too low they would have to worry about sales and whether or not they would make a profit. And then there's everything Martyr said about 6 hour games being sold at $60. Length isn't everything, I haven't played the game, but if it was enjoyable despite it's brevity, then it doesn't matter if it was really short.

So it's ok to sell you a demo for a game, so long as you enjoyed it? What ever happened to getting value for the money you spent? I don't care how many shooters come out with a 6 hour campaign, at least they also throw in a multiplayer component. This game... is just a demo, pure and simple... a game that should be priced for the amount of content it provides which should be like 10 bucks if that.

Funny thing about the entertainment business, even gaming, is that it's still at the end of the day a business and they needed to do this to help keep the books looking good. For all we know, 30 Dollars was they cheapest they could reasonably go and still make themselves look good financially for this project.

By chopping off a piece of the Phantom pain and selling it for half the price of the full game? They must be near poverty.

funny thing is that Angry Joe a Youtuber who does video game reviews and movie reviews once a while did a review on this game and he said something similar to your comment

Look at it this way. If they're going to chop off a piece of Phantom Pain and sell it for anything, they're going to make sure they get money out of it.

Sound like this game's is MGS2 with Ground Zeros being the Tanker Chapter and The Phantom Pain being the Big Shell Chapter. I guess I can wait to get both games and just play them both as is----it might even be worth it to do it that way.

Who's to blame? Greedy corporate bastards who are effectively charging people for a glorified demo, idiot consumers who still cough up the dough for it knowing what it is and giving said corporate bastards more incentive to pull stunts like this off in the future, and both for not letting Kojima just kill this damn series dead and let him do something else.

Good thing I've bailed out of it in any case. MGS4 is where it ended as far as I'm concerned.
